The inclusion of Azerbaijani carpets on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage can be a useful experience for Montenegro, especially since there is an initiative to apply for the production of Bihor carpets to the said list, the Minister of Culture of Montenegro, Aleksandar Bogdanović, announced today.
As reported by the Ministry of Culture, today in Baku he met with the Minister of Culture in the Government of Azerbaijan, Abulfas Garayev.
The announcement states that during the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture.
"In this regard, Ministers Bogdanović and Garajev noted that they are satisfied with the fact that there has been an intensification of cooperation between cultural institutions. This, as emphasized, primarily refers to the joint work of the National Library of Montenegro "Đurđe Crnojević" and the National Library of Azerbaijan within the framework of the Conference of European National Libraries, as well as the Montenegrin Cinematheque and the Azerbaijani Davlat Film Fund. They particularly emphasized the importance of the work of the Cultural and Economic Center of Azerbaijan in Podgorica, stressing that there is a mutual interest in organizing various programs in the field of culture more often in the future." they said from the Ministry of Culture.
Bogdanović said that the cooperation so far is a good basis for the next period, inviting Garaj to visit Montenegro, and that, as he added, the Program on Cooperation between the Ministries of Culture of the two countries should be signed.
Garajev pointed out that he supports this initiative, suggesting that during his visit to Montenegro, a program of joint activities in the field of culture should be formulated in more detail.
"He also pointed out that he is extremely glad that Azerbaijani artists are represented in increasing numbers in Montenegro and expressed the expectation that Montenegrin artists will be as present as possible on the Azerbaijani cultural scene. In this context, Garajev said that in the Carpet Museum in A presentation of Bihor carpets could be held in Baku, with subjects from Azerbaijan fully ready to share their experience in the process of applying their carpets to the UNESCO list," the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
Bogdanović said that during the conversation, they concluded that there is an exceptional space for strengthening cooperation in the field of culture.
"It is of particular importance that the first steps in this regard have already been taken, but I believe that the period of intensive activities is yet to come. In this direction, I suggested to Minister Garajev that during his visit to Montenegro, we sign the Cooperation Program of our Ministries of Culture, which would formally begin broad cooperation - starting with some joint crafts that belong to the intangible heritage of both countries, all the way to film, literature and other fields," said Bogdanović.
