Every day during one year, i.e. 12 months, during 52 weeks, and actually every 365 days, the young Montenegrin artist Hajdana Kostić created new and new works of art, which she will present at the exhibition in Podgorica, symbolically named "365", which will be opened on Friday, December 13 in the Art Pavilion of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro at 19 p.m.
In addition to its importance for every artist, this exhibition will sum up the daily one-year work of the young Montenegrin artist in the most beautiful way, and will thus close the year 2019. “Looking forward to seeing a bunch of my drawings in one place! I expect a lot of visitors to come and I hope they will be blown away by my works. (laughs) There will definitely be a lot of stimulation with themes, colors and lines, so I can't wait to see how the visitors and the works will interact. The best part for me will be if people leave the exhibition touched, that is, if my works communicate with their souls. We should also have music, so it will certainly be fun!", announced Kostić.
By asking herself, she encourages and motivates everyone around her, and the words she uses to explain whether it is difficult to create day after day are the following: "What do you do every day of the year, without exception? Every day you get out of bed, every day you eat, every day you see your reflection somewhere, you hear your voice, every day you look at your phone... I do that every day, and every day I draw a drawing. Every day we create our life. My life is art. On this occasion, I share with you 365 days of my life, 365 days of ups and downs, 365 moods, 365 unique moments. Come and see the result of my 365 project and take a peek into the intimate world of my creativity. Welcome, Friday the 13th at 19 p.m. (don't be superstitious)," she says with a smile.
More than 200 drawings will be exhibited, and she says she chose the setting intuitively. The techniques that are represented are charcoal, ink, pencil, and perhaps most often acrylic markers and acrylic paints.
"There is an interesting quote from Picasso: 'Inspiration exists, but it must find us in the work'. In translation, the more I drew, the more ideas came to me. There were days when I lacked time, and then when you lack time it happens because of the pressure of not knowing what I'm going to draw, but overall, I never lack inspiration. I have an inner desire to create, and I am receptive, as soon as I see something that nourishes me spiritually, which is usually art, it immediately affects me, changes me, enriches, inspires and motivates me to create. We artists are alive when we create, and vice versa. I could conclude this question best in this way: I live, therefore I create", she tells "Vijesti".
And while it is known that the works of artists both in the past and today have been created for years, she points out that she does not like to refine the ones she draws.
"It happened that I corrected the work after it was published, if I was not completely satisfied with it, but rarely. I just don't like going back once I'm done with something. It also happened that I would make colorful backgrounds for the drawing for a day or two before I would make the final work and publish it," she answers honestly. The public visiting the exhibition is guaranteed "artistic madness". "The audience that comes to see the exhibition will be able to feel the strong energy emanating from the works, so I would like to tell everyone: Get ready for artistic madness and open yourself up to receive good vibrations!", Kostić points out.
The "365" challenge changed her life
After a one-year challenge, Kostić embarked on another year of daily creation, and she reveals how. "Although I often strive to introduce some order and organization into my life, everything good that happens to me is usually spontaneous. So '365' was my spontaneous decision. She completely changed my life for the better, and honestly I was sorry to end this good practice. I believe that a person can take time for everything he wants and can become whatever he wants, he just needs to direct himself in the desired direction. I want to realize myself as a great artist who created unique works, and that's why I decided on that path. Although my best works are yet to come, there are many in the 365 series that I would single out as excellent. Of course, there are those with whom I am not satisfied, and this exhibition will be a presentation of all that in one place. The focus is on the process," explains Kostić.
Proud that Novak Djokovic shared her work on Instagram
With the exhibition "365", Hajdana Kostić will, in a way, close the previous year, and there will be many things she will remember in 2019. "For example, I am proud of the quality of my drawing, which has grown exponentially, when I look at the first work I drew now, I see that this is the best decision I have made. I am proud of the new series of paintings that I have started, they are large formats 1.8mx 1.5m that I am preparing for next year which will be a hit! I am very much looking forward to them. I am proud that Novak Djokovic shared Tesla's drawing with me on Instagram. I'm proud that I wasn't broken by a bunch of bad things that happened to me this year, and that it only made me stronger and smarter", says Kostić and adds what she would wish for herself, her colleagues, loved ones...
"I would like to wish everyone good health because it is a prerequisite for a quality life. To anyone who hasn't found the love of their life, I wish them to find it, and to nurture and protect it because I think there is no greater expression of divine grace than our ability to love and be loved. As for art and the art world, I would like more ecological painting materials to be invented that will be available to us so that art can be more sustainable, because at this rate, although the biggest responsibility lies with large corporations, we all lose, so in every sector it is necessary take steps. Personally, I would like to dive even deeper, and bring my talent to the surface in full splendor", says the young Montenegrin artist.
