The 34th Film Festival Herceg Novi - Montenegro Film Festival was closed the night before yesterday at the Kanli Kula fortress with the award ceremony and the screening of the film "Anet" by Leos Karaks. The program was led by actress Dubravka Drakić, and the beginning of the evening was marked by the performance of the Herceg Novi City Music and majorettes, who are celebrating 135 and 50 years of work this year. This was followed by the awarding of awards in two selections, a feature film and a student film.
The president of the jury in the feature film selection, actress Tatjana Tanja Bošković, announced that the Grand Prix - Big Golden Mimosa for the best film was awarded to "Oasis" by director Ivan Ikić, who in a brave and cinematically innovative way opens before us a world that is often neglected and hidden. from the eyes of society. The Zoran Živković plaque also belonged to this achievement.
The film's producers Marija and Milan Stojanović, stage designer Dragana Baćović, Tijana Marković, Marijana Novaković and Valentino Zenuni, who played the main roles, bowed to the audience.
The award was presented by Gordana Porobić-Krcunović, the Festival's business director and executive director of the Herceg Fest Public Culture Institution, and the plaque was presented by Luka Živković, the son of the long-time producer and director of the Festival in whose honor this award was established.
Porobić-Krcunović thanked everyone who helped organize this year's edition, and especially the audience who during the past seven days went to Herzegovinian film tour and confirmed that this festival has a future.
"Tonight, the 34th Herzegovinian film tour ends, which we started from here, from Kanli Kule. Our start was a little clumsy, we made one mistake. For some it was unforgivable, and for us it became felix culpa. We used it to show that the function of art and culture is to resist politicization, to change the world and consciousness, and that art wins," said Porobić-Krcunović.
The Golden Mimosa for directing was awarded to Romanian director Rado Žude for the film "Baksuzni kres ili luda pornography", for the richness of the film language in solving a daring but relevant topic, and for exploring uncomfortable territories with a recognizable author's hand. Žude sent words of thanks to the Festival and greetings to the audience in Herceg Novi via video message.
The winner of the Golden Mimosa for the best male role is Erdžan Kesal for the film "Potential Candidate", who approached his character with his acting style and spoke the language of the film, contributing to make the experience more than real. Kesal addressed the audience at Kanli Kula with a video message.
The golden mimosa for the best female role went to Ilka Gaša for her role in the movie "The Beehive", for an exceptionally strong performance portraying the main female character.
The Festival Council decided that the Živko Nikolić award for special contribution to film expression will be awarded to director of photography Savo Jovanović, due to the special film expression applied in the entire creative oeuvre. Savo Jovanović was greeted with loud applause, and the award was presented to him by Petar Nikolić, the son of the great director whose name bears this award.
As it was pointed out during the ceremony, Jovanović, in a career spanning more than 60 years, with his dedication, talent, feature and documentary films, as well as children's shows and reports, as an artist of moving images, was an indispensable support to a number of generations of directors, as well as a guide to young Montenegrin cinematographers and directors. photographers who learned from him about the camera, composition, painting, but also about life, collegiality and not giving up on yourself and the profession.
The directorate of the 34th FFHN-MFF and the Film Center from Belgrade awarded the Milan Žmukić award for a special contribution to the affirmation of the festival to the director Gordan Matić, for the film "Shoots in Marseille". The award to Matić was presented by Slobodan Vukšić from the Film Center and Vojislav Kilibarda on behalf of the Festival Directorate.
With the brave use of film means - both factual and dramatic, it sheds light on historical facts that should have been told a long time ago, it was stated in the explanation of the award.
The Adriatic Audience Award - the audience award within the joint selection of the Festival Network of the Adriatic Region, which consists of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Zagreb Film Festival, Belgrade Author Film Festival and Herzegovina Festival, will be awarded after the holding of all four festivals. The best film will be decided by summing up the votes of the audience from all countries, and the prize will be awarded in November, at the festival in Belgrade.
The patrons of the 34th Film Festival Herceg Novi - Montenegro film festival are the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Montenegro and the Municipality of Herceg Novi, and the executive producer is the Public Institution of Culture "Herceg Fest". The Festival's partners are the Film Center of Montenegro, as the umbrella institution of national cinematography, the Film Center of Serbia, the Montenegrin Cinematheque, as well as the Festival Network of the Adriatic Region, which is supported by the Creative Europe program.
Nikola Vučinić was awarded for the best student film
The prize for the best student film was won by "Great Achievements" by Nikola Vučinić, a student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts from Cetinje. The award was presented by the president of the student selection jury, Marija Nikčević, and taken over by the film's producer, Miljan Vučelić.
Two special awards were also given in this category - the film "Silence" directed by Miruna Minculescu from the National University of Theater and Film in Bucharest and the production "Dog and Wind" directed by Jovana Marković from the Faculty of Media and Communications in Belgrade.
