The entire gallery as one work

"I changed the segments of the installation until I came to the final solution, which in my opinion was the right measure, and that meant presenting myself in different media, in order to show my creativity more comprehensively," the Montenegrin artist points out.

Refreshed and contemporary works of the academic artist Vesne Boskovic from Montenegro were presented at the exhibition of her installations and drawings, which opened in the gallery of the Cultural Center of Trebinje (KCT) last weekend, and is available to visitors until the end of the month.

The installation was realized to the satisfaction of both the audience and the artist, as well as the organizers, after Bošković had previously exhibited at KCT in 2015, and she says to "Vijesti" that she perceives this opportunity as significant.

"Cultural center Trebnje has a rich cultural and artistic program, I have been following their work since before my last independent presentation there in 2015. The fact that 120 artists applied for an independent exhibition in 2023, of which only ten artists will enter the KCT program, speaks volumes about the quality and their work. I thought about this exhibition for two months, prepared the setting and constantly worked on the concept. I changed the segments of the installation until I came to the final solution, which in my opinion was the right measure, and that meant presenting myself in different media, in order to present my creativity more comprehensively", Bošković points out.

Regardless of the fact that she makes her creativity diverse due to different approaches and media, Bošković claims that in art there is only one means by which an idea is put into action, and she chooses it at the moment depending on the circumstances, mood, will...

"The setting itself consists of three segments. The first are predominantly recent drawings and graphics from the work 'Reconstruction of a Moment', the second segment presents photographs of installations printed on forex from the exhibition 'Everything is woven from holiness', which is accompanied by an author's text that visitors can read, while the third part of the exhibition they consist of four installations, which actually connect the entire installation," explains Bošković.

She also has positive impressions from the opening because of the reception she had, and she says that she was especially delighted by the statement of the director of KCT Miljan Vuković and the way he experienced the setting.

"That's exactly the way I wanted the audience to experience this exhibition," she says to "Vijesta".

Bošković adds that the gallery space offered by KCT is very attractive, so she additionally decided to take advantage of the opportunity, play around and put the space into the function of her works, which will thus connect with each other, supplement and create a whole. She is glad that others recognized it, so she quotes Vuković:

"Vesna surprised us quite a bit with the new concept of the exhibition, new works that are in some of her manner, but still refreshed and contemporary. In this way, for example, she treated the gallery where she exhibits, combining the specificity of the space with her works. I have the feeling that the entire gallery is a kind of one work with a specific expression", he said.

The beautiful impression was not spoiled even by the complications she encountered, which sometimes seem inevitable in order to make the complete impression even more beautiful later, adds the artist.

"There were quite a few complications in the organization and preparation of the exhibition, as well as on the opening day itself. I'm talking about my part of the organization... However, as we brought the setup to a close, the satisfaction grew. The very opening of the exhibition was followed by the impeccable organization of the hosts, and the event received a lot of media attention. It was a real pleasure, I really enjoyed the opening night of the exhibition, the audience, the conversation with colleagues and friends. I hope that the audience will find at least a fraction of the satisfaction that they gave me", concludes Bošković.

It starts from the principle of independence and self-sufficiency

Art historian Ljiljana Zeković in the book "Individual Fine Art Poetics" she pointed out that Vesna Bošković's statement "in art everything is complex - everything is a replica" can be taken as the motto of Vesna Bošković's creativity.

"With visual and non-visual materials, lucid and thoughtful expression, she designed creative spaces in which ratio and spiritus, ideas and feelings, sensitivity and irony, harmony and disharmony, personal confessions and comments on current affairs, represent equivalent categories that reflect the intimacy of her Self. In her artwork, she starts from the principles of independence and self-sufficiency, striving to revive 'a dead point of knowledge within us - with its movement, open new spaces towards the future,'" said Zeković.
