Famous British music and visual artist Brian Ino is the laureate of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement of the Venice Biennale, announced the organizers of the famous event.
A great musician, producer, fine and visual artist, who during his fruitful career worked with the band "Talking Heads", David Bowie, or the bands "Roxy Music" and U2, will be crowned with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in the fall, the organizers of the Venice Biennale announced.
British musician Brian Eno, who is 74 years old today, became famous in the seventies, and despite his huge achievements in the field of music, he has always called himself a "non-musician".
The Music Department of the Venice Biennale decided to award Brian Inn for, as they stated, "the constant search for the quality, beauty and breadth of digital sounds, but also for the creation of acoustic space as an integral instrument of music".
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the artist on October 22 as part of the Music Biennale in Venice, Reuters reported.
Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Sale Ino, as the artist's full name reads, is an English musician, composer, producer, singer, writer and visual artist. He is known for his pioneering work in rock, pop, ambient and electronic music. He is considered one of the most influential and innovative figures in popular music and the father of ambient music.
Born in Suffolk in May 1948, Ino studied painting and experimental music. Already at the beginning of the seventh decade of the 20th century, he joined Brian Ferry in the creation of the group "Roxy Music", starting to play as a keyboardist. But, after only two years, he left the band to devote himself to his solo career and ambient music. In the second half of the seventies, he released the albums "Another Green World", "Discreet Music" and "Music for Airports", which set new standards in ambient and experimental music.
In addition to his solo career, he never gave up collaborating with other musicians, and David Bowie was his favorite in particular. Since he also started working as a producer during the seventies, he was behind Bowie's famous "Berlin Trilogy", i.e. the albums "Low", "Heroes" and "Lodger".
His contribution to the albums of the frontman "Talking Heads" is also striking. David Byrne, and later those who signed Lori Anderson, Grace Jones, U2, Coldplay…
Three years ago, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of "Roxy Music", and received an award from the Stephen Hawking Foundation.
