The event "Archive Week", as a traditional project organized by the State Archives of Montenegro, begins today with the exhibition of documents and photos "Education in Podgorica", which will be opened in the exhibition hall of the Cultural and Information Center "Budo Tomović" at 12 noon.

"Through research work in several archival departments, we have obtained documents and photographs that illustrate the system of education and upbringing of generations of children from the first schools in the area of the municipality of Podgorica until the eighties of the 20th century," points out the head of the Archives Department Podgorica Biljana Drasković.

With a traditional project, the State Archives strives to promote and popularize the archival profession, she adds, with the aim of protecting archival material as a general, cultural and educational asset of historical importance, but also to spread interest in the activity we perform. The beginning of the manifestation for the Archive Department Podgorica will mark the opening of the exhibition.

"The work on the cultural and educational activities of the State Archives comes to the fore during this manifestation, and the presentation of the work is provided throughout the week. During the days of 'Archive Week', we try to make the local community aware of our existence. We invite institutions of importance for our city, especially educational institutions, to be our guests in order to bring them closer to the activity we are engaged in. We have documents that are witnesses of social existence and creation in this area", said Drašković.

She points out that by cooperating with institutions from the territory of the Municipality of Podgorica, they strive to show young generations the importance of documents and their preservation, but also to awaken interest in the entire activity performed by the State Archives.

"Students and teachers as representatives of educational institutions will be our guests during this project, and we are opening our doors wide to them as well as to other interested parties," says Drašković.
