The sixth Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC) will be held from September 8 to 12 in Sarajevo, and a selection of documentaries will be shown at Cineplexx Sarajevo and the Bosnian Cultural Center (BKC), while a program for professionals from the documentary industry will be held in the Chamber Theater 55.
AJB DOC Film Festival brings documentary stories from all over the world under the umbrella of the current theme of the Festival, and this year the theme "RIGHT(S)" was chosen.
The organizers announced that the current topic was chosen to point out the increasingly frequent denial of fundamental rights and freedoms that should be enjoyed by all people, regardless of origin, beliefs and way of life.
The focus of the Festival is on universal human values, so the theme of the documentary films will be basic civil and political, as well as social, cultural and economic rights, of which the rights of women, refugees and migrants, as well as the media's right to free reporting stand out as particularly current topics. , and the right to life, human dignity, freedom and free choice, identity, opinion and many other rights that, despite international protection systems, are denied and trampled upon.
Documentary films intended for television broadcast will be shown in the Competition Selection, feature-length documentaries in the Last Minute Cinema selection, and AJB Shows will bring together the best documentaries of regional production.
The SmartDoc selection is reserved for works by young authors, and soon the complete program of the Sixth AJB DOC Film Festival will be officially presented. The organizers say that this year's selection of films is the culmination of their work so far.
