The exhibition of works of art that the newly founded Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro (MSUCG) purchased in 2023 will be opened tonight in Podgorica, at 19 p.m. The "Acquisitions" installation will be available for visitors until February 2024, XNUMX, in the MSUCG Gallery and in the Perjanički dom.
In September, MSUCG announced a public tender for the purchase of works of art and museum objects from the field of contemporary art for the year 2023, and a total of 14 works were purchased through this process, for which they allocated 42.500 euros.
Works will be presented at the exhibition: Šejla Kamerić, Lenke Đorojević, Siniša Radulovića, Adrijane Gvozdenović i Goda Palekaite, Irene Lagator Pejović, Darje Bajagić, Aleksandra Vukotić, Ivica Arandjus, Vlatka Vujošević, Joveta Ljumović, Darko Vučković, Velibor Pavićević, Adin Rastoder i Jelene Pavićević Marković.
Curator of the exhibition Teodora Nikcevic she said that this is a significant step for MSUCG to expand its collection and support artists who express themselves through new media formats.
"This initiative is the result of a public tender for the purchase of works, which for the first time included a collection of new media. The competition provided a unique opportunity to establish a connection between the Museum and artists who deal with new media - both established and internationally recognized artists, and young artists who are already achieving significant results," said Nikčević.
Curator of the exhibition Natalia Đuranović she wrote that contemporary art today is an environment with different languages and interpretations, where eminent artistic expression is freed from any possible classification, and the work of art represents an intuiting of the artist's potential reality. Artists create with different criteria, expressing their need for their own creative freedom.
"As the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro supports innovative artistic movements in its planned purchase strategy, so, in view of the variety of displays, at this exhibition you can see works made in different media - from painting and sculpture to video works, digitally executed works and photography" , said Đuranović.
