The premiere of the play "I am the one that I am not" based on the text by Mata Matišić and directed by Vito Taufer, will be performed today on the big stage of the Montenegrin National Theater (CNP) at 20 p.m.

"Three generations of women are the inspiration for three one-act plays: in the first, we come across a young woman at the beginning of her life burdened by family inheritance, in the second at a mature age and in the third, at the age of 65, at the moment of recapitulating her life. Each of these women has her own problem, her own story, her own way of fighting life in a predominantly male environment," the CNP press release states.

The performance is also in the repertoire tomorrow at 20 pm, and tickets can be reserved and purchased at the theater box office, as well as on the cnp.me website.

The author's team of the play consists of: playwright Stefan Bošković, scenographer Lazar Bodroža, costume designer Lina Leković, music by Mate Matišić, choreographer Julija Milačić Petrović Njegoš, and executive producer Nela Otašević.

The roles in the first act are played by: Anđela Marunović, Stevan Radusinović, Gorana Dragašević, Srđan Grahovac, Žaklina Oštir, Jelena Nenezić, Dejan Đonović, Lazar Dragojević; Predrag Pavićević, Marko Kažić, as well as acting students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts from Cetinje: Mina Mićović, Andrea Drašković, Radmila Škuletić and Kristina Mrkić. In the second act, the audience will watch the well-known ensemble consisting of: Ana Vučković, Zoran Vujović, Lazar Dragojević and Davor Dragojević, and in the third act: Varja Đukić, Izudin Bajrović, Aleksandar Gavranić, Ana Vučković, Anđela Marunović and Srđan Grahovac.

CNP artistic director Vesna Vujošević Labović announced the play as "a story about three women who accepted to play the roles that are 'expected' of them".

"One is in the middle of a showdown between two men, the second is a victim of her career and the third has decided to sacrifice herself for the sake of her family. All of the above opened up a great playing field for the cast and for the entire author team a space for creation, which gives us another important project of the national theater", said Vujošević Labović.

Set designer Lazar Bodroža said that the most interesting thing in the play is the play with genres.

"This is a three-act structure, and we tried to bring the cinematic film and theater experience closer together and to try to erase that border, in order to visually stylize the show in terms of genre. Matišić writes in such a way that he constantly keeps you in some moral ambivalence, and we tried our best to respond to that with scenography, lighting and costumes", said Bodroža.

Vito Taufer, permanent director of the Slovenian Youth Theater since 1989, who has collaborated with numerous theaters throughout the region and staged more than a hundred plays and several operas, and is directing for the first time at the Montenegrin National Theater.

"This is a phenomenal text, provocative and multi-layered, which offers a hand for dialogue about the phenomena and problems of society, and I can say that it got an excellent materialization with top actors," said Taufer and announced that the audience is in for a very witty play.
