The theater play "In Eden in the East", based on the play by Borislav Pekić, is the central event of the program activities of the Creative Hub "Pekić's House" in Šavnik and should be premiered on May 14.
This was emphasized at yesterday's media conference by the director of the Šavnica Center for Culture, Sports and Media, Velimir Šobić, who announced that the play will be realized in co-production with the Montenegrin National Theater (CNP) and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU).
This year's program activities of the Creative Haba, Kuća Pekića in Šavnik, opened with the promotion of the title of the publishing activity of the Nikšić Theater. Šobić pointed out that the planned program activities in the Creative Hub Kuća Pekić include the organization and realization of a series of cultural and artistic events from almost all forms of art, with a special emphasis on dramatic art, literature and film, "since the Hub in Šavnik inherits the creative work of the greats of literature by Borislav Pekić, who is also known as a playwright and screenwriter in the literary anthology".
"The central event will be the premiere of Pekić's play 'In Eden in the East', which we will realize in co-production with CNP and FDU, as part of the educational program of that higher education institution from Cetinje, with which a contract on business and technical cooperation was signed," he announced. is Šobić.
The dramatization, direction, stage design and lighting design of this play was entrusted to Milo Vučinić, a playwright who is a master's student in Theater Direction (FDU). Vučinić entrusted the characters of Pekić's play to actors Dejan Ivanić and Pavlo Novaković. The first part of the reading and stage rehearsals begins these days at the CNP, followed by rehearsals in the Pekić House and on the stage of the Center for Culture, Sports and Media. The premiere performance is scheduled for May 14.
In May, Šobić announced, a three-day event "Homeland and Writer" dedicated to Borislav Pekić is planned, which will be held from May 15 to 18. As part of the event, it is planned to organize a one-day scientific discussion about Pekić's creative work, then a screening of the film "Time of Miracles" and a literary workshop in which professors and students of the educational center from Šavnik will participate.
"We will initiate the organization of the same or similar events in other centers in Montenegro and the exchange of these programs. "Poetic Theater" is planned to be organized in the middle of July, and the film program, which is planned for the first half of August, foresees the organization of the segment of the repertoire of the Green Montenegro International Film Festival", pointed out Šobić.
From July to the end of August, it is planned to organize art exhibitions and colonies, as well as workshops of domestic handicrafts, with the mentorship of ethnographic professionals and fine artists.
"Cultural tourism is a segment of the Creative Haba House Pekić program, where this representative building will be the home of speleologists, mountaineers, tourism experts and cultural workers during July and August, with whom it is planned to hold round tables on the development of mountain tourism and the valorization of natural beauty and cultural of the heritage of the Šavnica region", said the director of the Šavnica Center for Culture, Sports and Media.
He also said that material is being prepared for the Creative Hub podcast, which will be placed on their website.
The beginning of autumn is reserved for chess and creative martial arts, so in October lectures will be organized on the importance of the mentioned sports disciplines.
Veljko Mandić - the most universal drama creator in Montenegro
Dr. Radoje Femić and the editor of the publishing activity of the Nikšić Theater, Slavojka Marojević, presented the books "Drama Veljko Mandić" and "Collected Dramas", the monograph "Theatre in Montenegro", as well as the magazine "Theatre", the only one of its kind in Montenegro.
Marojević said that the book "Collected Plays" contains 23 dramatic texts by 14 contemporary Montenegrin playwrights and that it was promoted not only in Nikšić, but in many areas in Montenegro and at prestigious festivals in the country and in the region.
"This anthology of collected dramas will surprise readers with its breadth, i.e. the poetic plurality that characterizes it, but it will also surprise with the list of author's poetics and phenomena that show that the contemporary Montenegrin theater scene is very alive and that the dramaturgical one is not reduced to 2-3 recognizable names like it is usually in the general public", said Femić.
One gets the impression, he says, that these are selected dramas, and the most striking feature of the texts is their realistic orientation, as well as that the social dimension is predominantly emphasized in the selected dramas. Their local orientation is, according to Femić, very conditional, while universal labels are predominant, as well as that to a certain extent one can talk about "the attachment of contemporary domestic authors to that traditional dramatic concept".
Marojević pointed out that Veljko Mandić is the most universal drama creator in Montenegro, that all 11 of his plays were published for the first time, so that, in this way, the Nikšić Theater paid back Veljko Mandić and his rich creativity. She reminded that Mandić's manuscript is a teaching unit in the History of Montenegrin Drama syllabus of the Cetinje FDU, as well as that the book "Drama" was published jointly by the Nikšić Theater and the "Njegoš" National Library.
Femić says that the dramatic texts show Mandić as an author of high autopoetic awareness, as well as that his texts contain elements of comedy of nature, comedy of situation and comedy of character.
"Veljko Mandić's comedies do not imitate inferior characters, as the theory of drama teaches us, but precisely typified heroes characteristic of social reality, that is, the reality of Montenegro in the second half of the 20th century," said Femić.
In Mandić's plays, according to Femić, the world is depicted in appropriate conflicts, such as the conflict between urban and rural, young and old, bureaucratized consciousness on the one hand and freedom of mind on the other.
"Above these intersections of the sublime, on the one hand, and the trivial, on the other hand, the grotesque is usually born as a stylistic mechanism in which the source of comedy is transmitted dispersively, from the character and general ambience to the way of materializing that world", pointed out Femić.
He emphasized that there is an interesting influence of folklore in the plays of Veljko Mandić, and an important structural determinant of his creativity is the modified role of the wheel as a collective expression of folk wisdom.
The dramatization, direction, stage design and lighting design of the play "In Eden na Istok" was entrusted to Milo Vučinić, and the actors Dejan Ivanić and Pavlo Novaković played the roles.
