The "Month of European Film" event, during which award-winning European films will be shown, will be held from November 4 to December 6 in 12 Montenegrin municipalities.
The event is organized by the Film Center of Montenegro, the Cinematheque of Montenegro and the Network of Cinema Screeners of Montenegro, in cooperation with the European Film Academy (EFA).
"This unique film journey includes screenings of award-winning European productions in culture centers in 11 Montenegrin cities and the Montenegrin Cinematheque, making Montenegro the first in Europe where films will be shown in all cinemas at the national level," said the Film Center.
As they pointed out, some of last year's best titles will be able to be seen by the audience in Podgorica, Pljevlje, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Mojkovac, Nikšić, Danilovgrad, Kotor, Tivat, Bar, Herceg Novi and Plužine.
"The program celebrates the richness and diversity of European film production, and the special focus is on the voices of female authors who speak about topics important to contemporary society, offering the audience the opportunity to enjoy these outstanding achievements for the first time," the announcement states.
The Film Center announced that the event in Podgorica will be opened on Monday, November 4, by a screening of the film "The Substance" directed by Korala Farža, winner of the Palme d'Or for best screenplay at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Among the other achievements that will be shown as part of the program are the winner of the Golden Palm for the short film "The Man Who Couldn't Be Silent" by director Nebojsa Slijepčević, the best film at the recently concluded Slovenian Film Festival "Family Therapy" by director Sonja Prosenc, and the French film "All Your Faces" directed by Žene Heri.
The audience will be able to watch Croatian director Vanja Juranić's film "Only When I Smile" as well as the Serbian film "78 Days", the debut and award-winning work of Emilija Gašić.
"All screenings in Podgorica will be held in the Montenegrin Cinematheque, in the "Gojko Kastratović" hall, starting at 20:XNUMX p.m., and admission is free," the announcement states.
This year's program, it is added, will be enriched with two animated films for children: "Bambi, the story of life in the forest" by French director Mihael Fesler and "Cricket and Ant" by Croatian authors Luka Rukavina, Kristijan Milić and Dino Krpan.
The Film Center said that the entire program of the "Month of European Film" manifestation, with program details for all 12 municipalities, will soon be available on official websites, social networks, media, as well as in local culture centers where screenings will be held.
They invited all lovers of film art to join them and enjoy the rich repertoire of European film productions.
