Culture must not only be a consumer, but in the service of contemporary needs of society can significantly contribute to economic development, as recognized by Montenegro and Albania, which have successful cultural cooperation, especially in the field of publishing, translation, and cinematography.
This was announced at the meeting of the Minister of Culture and Media, Tamara Vujović, with the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonđa, during her official visit to Albania, on the occasion of the Montenegrin Culture Week in Albania.
In the press release of the Ministry of Culture and Media (MKM), it is stated that Vujović emphasized that the Montenegrin Culture Week is being organized in Albania for the second time.
"Last year, we successfully presented our cultural heritage and contemporary creativity. We are looking forward to the fact that this year our institutions will organize interesting programs, which, I am sure, will be attended. Culture week is not only an opportunity for the promotion of culture, but also for tourism promotion, presenting our gastronomic offer, but also our country as a suitable destination for foreign investments," said Vujović.
In the statement of the MKM, it is stated that Vujović invited to organize the Days of Albanian Culture in Montenegro next year, which was accepted.
"Our peoples are close, they share a common history and values, cooperation in the field of publishing and translation is very important. It is necessary to further improve and promote this type of cooperation, bearing in mind that Albania has already established the National Center for Books and Reading, and that the Ministry of Culture and the media is planning to establish a book agency, so the Albanian model could be useful for us", believes Vujović.
She said that the two ministries are already successfully cooperating in culture, and several projects have been implemented through cross-border cooperation.
"The Ministry of Culture and Media undertakes activities in the field of creative industries, developing hubs for artist residencies, and we would be happy to host Albanian artists in Kotor and Savnik. We are still developing this area and rely on the support of international partners in order to catch up with contemporary trends." said Vujović.
The MKM stated that the interlocutors emphasized that the countries cooperate in the field of cinematography, that the film centers realized several joint co-productions, two of which will be seen at this year's culture week - Sirin and Roda, as well as that both countries position themselves as film destinations.
"When it comes to ways of investing in culture, providing additional funds for investments and opportunities for the economic valorization of cultural assets, the minister pointed out that Montenegro would be happy to study the model applied by Albania in that area, which could be applicable in our country as well. especially in relation to private initiatives and cultural heritage, donations, sponsorships and the like," the announcement reads.
MKM said that Gonđo presented the ministry that connects economy, culture and innovation under one roof and pointed out that this concept contributes to the economic valorization of culture, which contributes to economic development, social and social inclusion.
"With the application of innovative solutions, the budget for culture has doubled compared to last year. Culture must serve the contemporary needs of society and follow development," said Gonđo.
He pointed out that Montenegro's progress towards the European Union is very significant and that our country is a model for them in the process of integration.
The MKM said that Vujović offered help and support in that area and pointed out that she hopes that Montenegro will be the next member of the EU, which will show the region that the enlargement process is alive and raise Euro-enthusiasm.
"At the week of culture in Albania, the Royal Theater Zetski dom will be presented with the performance Butterfly in Shkodra, the Film Center of Montenegro with the films Sirin and Roda, the Maritime Museum of Montenegro with the exhibition Cartography of Boka, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro with an overview of contemporary creativity of Montenegro, and the women's klapa Incanto from Kotor will also perform. The programs will be realized in Tirana and Shkodër from November 7 to 12," concludes the MKM announcement.
