The beginning of the continuation of the tradition
After a 16-year hiatus, the Podgorica Art Salon, which transcends the borders of the country, will be restored, Ćupić announced, emphasizing that on December 20, on the occasion of Podgorica Day, an exhibition dedicated to that date will be opened. At this year's Salon, which will open on December 16 and last until January 28, XNUMX artists from the country and abroad will be presented, whose selector is the museum advisor of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina. Sanja Kojić Mladenov who came up with the concept. The salon will be held in the Modern Gallery, both on the ground floor and in the upper part.
"The first exhibition of the Salon, after a long break, aims to gather and present contemporary local and regional artistic practices. Through the manifestation of a long tradition, this year's Salon builds on already achieved results that followed both social, artistic and historical trends, and continues to cover current artistic phenomena, but also methodological approaches and concepts", said Ćupić.
She reminded that the Podgorica Art Salon was established in 1995, when it was conceived to promote Podgorica artists who, through their work and creative activity, have earned a special place in the city's cultural circles. With one interruption in 1999, the tradition of holding the salon continued until 2008, when it was discontinued.
"We are now continuing and extending the Salon, which is held under the symbolic name "Garden of Hope", which starts from the relationship between man and his environment, questions the wealth of diversity, but also the challenges he faces during the search. Through a theme that connects current social processes, the exhibition emphasizes the importance of biodiversity and environmental preservation on the one hand, and at the same time points to the negative aspects of hierarchical thinking and the instrumentalization of others for the sake of one's own interests," said Ćupić.
She expressed the hope that this exhibition and renovation will be "the beginning of the continuation of the tradition", the manifestation that was one of the most significant cultural events in Podgorica.
