In addition to the Piranesi Award, which is linked to the Piran Architecture Days and is awarded every year - ever since 1989 - two consolation (senior) Honorary Piranesi awards are also awarded - and, fanfare please: one student Honorary Piranesi award.
Two student works from twenty-one (21) European architecture schools are applying for this prestigious student award - including, of course, the cheerful architecture school from Podgorica - fanfare please: AF UCG.
Student works are selected by two selectors from each of those schools - which means that our selectors - this one and that one and that one and that one from AF PG - selected two student works - one each - for the student Honorary Piranesi award in 2024.
And as I said last Saturday - I am not saying that both of these student works are not very nice - and by the way also very symptomatic - and that they do not point, very explicitly, to a very specific academic climate that prevails at AF PG - and which ideally continues, especially in recent times, to the general climate that prevails in the so-called To the CG architectural scene - which does not exist, but let's pretend, as before, that it exists - I am not saying, please, that one of those two works is not particularly interesting - all I want to say is that I was quite surprised when I've seen that work - and it's not easy to surprise me because I've already seen it all...

So, on the one hand, we have honorable, honest, very aware and very agile Jovićević (Caroline & Janko) - who have one of their several warm homes, scattered all over the world, on the very shore of Lake Skadar - above Đuro's and Kaluđer's eyes - about halfway along the old path between Karuč and Drušić - and who, there are several of them, addressed Mr. I will connect, to the Prime Minister, with the Subject entitled: Warning to the Prime Minister of Montenegro! - The death blow to Karučki izvorište! - or, in another variant: A death blow to the Karuc Bay in the Skadar Lake National Park! - Illegal construction on spring water!
What is it about?
It is about two illegal floating bungalows - about those two illegal type apartment units (roof houses) - tied to an illegal floating platform, which is again tied to the Karučki karst - to a huge and very impressive stone block above the lake, and owned by Prijestonica - located, approx. , halfway between Karuč and the Jovićević home - and decorated with something that, at the very least, we could call informal construction - and that in the NPSJ zone...
Now, the Jovićevićs addressed the aforementioned Prime Minister and the President of the State - the State, excuse me - and the President of the Assembly and the Mayor of Priještina (everything happens on the territory of Priještina) - and ministers and directors of public companies - and elected units of local self-government - and, finally, elected representatives of the diplomatic corps...
There is no one they haven't addressed...
And nothing...
OK, some people responded to the letter - there was correspondence between Jovićević and representatives of certain called/invited authorities and institutions - but nothing happened on the ground that would indicate that there is a real will of the authorities to solve this problem - in any way.
The disputed bungalows are still where they were on October 21 of the current year - at the time when the Jovićevićs sent the first letter... I'm lying... The big wind that blew at the beginning of the current month rotated the bungalows by some 90 degrees in the north direction, in the direction counter hands on the clock...

And on the other side - the student side - we have a platform on stilts - above something that most closely resembles the fountain of Nesquik - or black tea with milk - or it's some color from the Pantone Oat Milk Latte Color Palette - or it's... you we say what it is - and on the platform we have three bungalows - three typical apartment units - or are they hunting checks - if we take into account that the environment is irresistibly associated with Lake Skadar - especially if we take into account that higher of type units flying birds - many birds - and in the foreground we even have a flamingo...
And then the selector so-and-so nicely packed and sent the Piranesi awards to the jury - and just when one of the jury members - a character with glasses - always characters with glasses are the most perceptive - said that what I called the source of Nesquik could be. .. the other members of the jury immediately thought that this was some kind of provocation - or even subversion - or a dystopian vision of something - but when they became fully aware of the architecture - that is the way in which those unified type units (three pieces) were shaped - so undoubtedly with ambition - they just looked at each other...
My brother, what is this?
Now, if you are interested in what it should have looked like - if the luck of the hero had not been in favor - then it would be best to verify the work from the Belgrade Faculty of Architecture - AF UB - work that was crowned with the prestigious, student, Honorary Piranesi recognition for the year 2024 - so you can see what serious work looks like...

The key question, therefore, would concern the manner in which the drainage of feces was solved - in both cases - and with those two illegal type units on an illegal platform, illegally tied to the so-called Karučki karst - and at those three unified type units on the platform in the middle of something that looks exactly like Lake Skadar - and it could easily be Lake Bled, or Lake Bohinj - or Lake Blagu in Slovenia...
There are lakes in Slovenia - the number of them is unknown - and it really amazes me how it is that no one there (yet) has thought of installing bungalows in the middle of one of those lakes...
And is it possible that only the Jovićevićs - no one else - are bothered by the bungalows on Lake Skadar - that is, (potential) feces in the water - some 300-350 meters from their house and the mentioned eyes...
Is it possible, on the other hand, that the selectors from AF UCG do not see any problem in locating a platform in the middle of a lake - any one - and in placing typical apartment units on that platform...
And now what prevents me - just me, for the sake of example - to go to Karuč and illegally install a couple of illegal platforms on the water, complete with two illegal roofers on those platforms - in spite of the Jovićevićs...
And what else needs to happen so that we understand that this story of ours is definitely not going in a direction that we could consider acceptable - just the opposite...
And kudos to the Jovićevićs - if one of their (collateral) goals was to (clearly) show us and prove that the system on which this unfortunate country rests is absolutely dysfunctional - I will refrain from using a harsher word - then they succeeded in achieve that goal...
