Photo exhibition "Wind Rose" by the author Lune Jovanovic from Serbia, will be opened tomorrow in Podgorica, at the “F64” Gallery at 19 p.m. The curator of the exhibition is art historian Miloš Marjanović.
The work that Jovanović presents explores the geographical area of Banat, questioning its historical and cultural layers.
"The Banat region in northern Serbia is known for its strong and frequent winds that have influenced the region's identity and its specificity. 'Wind Rose' represents a segment of work about Banat whose thematic backbone is wind, or rather, the potential impact of wind on the formation of soil and the functioning of human communities. By establishing a connection between memory, historical facts and imagination, I create a visual space that, in an alternative way, strives to understand the spirit of the place," says Jovanović about his work.
She reminds us that it is impossible to fully read the traces of history imprinted in the landscape, but nevertheless she sometimes records them, invents them, and sometimes reconstructs them, suggesting that the facts of the past can be intertwined with personal and local memory.

"I want to highlight the importance of stories and images in forming and preserving the identity of small places, but also to point out the necessity of a culture of remembrance. The compass rose is a metaphor for the constant change reflected in the natural terrain, for historical upheavals and migrations, and for the erasure of the traces of the past that time leaves on human works," says the photographer.
In a broader context, she adds, her artistic and research practice touches on the concept of cultural geography, and the focus of her work so far has primarily been sparsely populated rural areas where the plain takes over the human presence.
"The works from the attached series can be viewed as a whole composed of interconnected fragments - photographic records, collages, found documentation and drawings."
Luna Jovanović was born in 1990 and completed her master's degree in photography at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 2022, after completing interdisciplinary studies at the University of Arts in Belgrade in 2015, in the Department of Art and Media Theory. She has had ten solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Serbia and the region.
"Her artistic work examines the concepts of space, cultural landscape and memory, using photography, found materials, collage and drawing. She is the founder of the photography studio 'Intuit', within which she is also actively involved in applied photography. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in fine arts at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad," her biography states.
