The promotion of the monograph of the Danilovgrad Art Colony will be held tomorrow in Budva, at 19 pm, in the premises of the Museum and Gallery of Budva, in the Old Town, at 19 pm.
On that occasion, academician will speak about the publication. Siniša Jelušić, mr Mirko Toljic who was in charge of the visual identity of the publication, director of the Colony Andrija Radulović who is also the editor of the publication, as well as Mr. Lucija Đurašković, who is one of the reviewers.
The monograph, about 200 pages long, provides a cross-section of the work of the Danilovgrad Art Colony from its founding in 1972 until 2024, recalling the importance of the institution of the same name and the event it organizes, but also the excellent artists who came to Danilovgrad from all over the world for this occasion.
"The monograph was created with the intention of providing the general public with insight into all the values that were created in the Art Colony, thus making them permanently recorded," Radulović told Vijesti on the occasion of the publication's release and added:
"Many artists have realized their stone dreams, their carved visions here, whose works adorn the Art Colony Park and the city of Danilovgrad, which has the ambition to be a city of sculptures, unique in Montenegro, and to be recognized on the world art map as an important place where art is created in stone and from stone," said Radulović.
The book contains photographs of sculptures created at the Colony by renowned artists from all over the world, as well as texts by the Minister of Culture. Tamara Vujovic, art historians Ljiljana Karadzic, curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro Vuk Vuković, director of the Colony, Andrija Radulović, as well as records of notable figures who visited the Danilovgrad Art Colony, including ambassadors from Bulgaria, Slovenia, and North Macedonia, famous artists, and high-ranking officials from cultural and public life from the country and abroad. The monograph also includes press articles that talk about the life and work of the Art Colony, which is a unique phenomenon in Montenegro and beyond, and in particular, Montenegrin sculptors, winners of the annual “Drago Đurović” sculpture award, are presented.
Photos are signed by Nenad Mandic, and the editorial team gathered around the publication consists of: Joveta Ljumovic, mr Velibor Pavicevic, mr Sasa Stanisic, mr Aleksandra Pavicevic, as well as Andrija Radulović, who is the editor-in-chief. The texts were translated into English by Dr. Savo Kostić.
The reviewers are Mr. Zlatko Glamocak, prof. Ph.D Saša Radojčić from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and art historian MA Lucija Đurašković.
