Montenegrin cinema will have its representatives at the second edition of the Slano Film Days event, which will be held this year from June 17th to 21st, in Slano, Croatia.
This is a unique format event that connects emerging regional filmmakers with eminent names from the world of film. While last year's edition focused on directors, this year Slano Film Days has expanded its list of lecturers-actors.
"The legendary filmmaker will share his knowledge and experience with talented regional film artists at the upcoming edition of Slano Film Days." Steve Buscemi, whose contribution to the art of film is invaluable and extraordinary Daniel Bruhl, "who delights both audiences and film critics with his acting virtuosity," the statement said.
In addition, the final list of participants for the second edition of the program, which is formed by invitation, has been announced. A total of 14 film artists have been invited to participate and will attend workshops in the fields of acting, directing or cinematography, with someone from Montenegro in each field.
Lectures and workshops intended for actors will be attended by a Montenegrin actor Milivoje Mišo Obradović who, in addition to numerous roles in regional cinema, also stood out with the main role in one of the episodes of the series "The Saints", whose executive producer is the famous filmmaker Martin Scorsese. In addition to Obradović, the following also participate in this segment: Iva Babić from Croatia, Ilka Gashi from Kosovo, Marko Grabež from Serbia, Maja Izetbegović from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Clear Cock from Slovenia.
Five directors were also selected for a program dedicated to their profession, including a Montenegrin author. Ivan Marinović, as well as: Gregor Bozic from Slovenia, Jelena Gavrilović from Serbia, Samir Karahoda from Kosovo, and Nebojsa Slijepčević from Croatia.
Among only three participants in lectures and workshops intended for cameramen, Milena Bečanović from Montenegro, together with Janom Andjic from Serbia and Magdalena Ptiček from Croatia.
"During the five days of the Slano Film Days event, they will all enrich their personal and professional development, and open conversations about the creative process of filmmaking with renowned world names will strengthen the regional film community as a whole. The final list of all lecturers and guests, respectable film professionals, will be presented in mid-May 2025," the statement announced.
The participation of film professionals and students from the region at Slano Film Days was supported through partnership by: Croatian Audiovisual Center, Film Center of Serbia, Film Center of Montenegro and Slovenian Film Center.
Author of the concept and director of Slano Film Days, Mirsad Purivatra, after the Sarajevo Film Festival, presents a new concept that focuses on the creative process of film as an art, the statement said, while at the same time leaving aside its commodity value.
"The response of world-renowned filmmakers is evidence that Slano has already been established as a meeting place for filmmakers and film lovers," the organizers point out.
World-renowned, award-winning actor, screenwriter, director and producer Steve Buscemi has been heralded as an icon of independent film, with a special energy.
“He built a career in independent films and became an icon of the New York scene, remaining true to artistry and authenticity beyond the Hollywood glitz,” the announcement states, with references to the sound titles he was a part of.
In addition to him, there is also the internationally renowned, award-winning German-Spanish actor, producer and director Daniel Bruhl. The latest film starring Steve Buscemi, which won the audience award at the Tribeca Film Festival, “Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write about a Serial Killer”, will be screened in Slano, and the film's director will also be a guest in Slano.
