England football team coach Gareth Southgate said that his team lost balls easily and played without enough intensity during the match against Denmark at the European Championship.
"We have to accept the fact that we didn't have enough intensity and that we lost the ball too easily. Without those two things, it's hard to control the match," Southgate said at the post-match press conference.
Yesterday in Frankfurt, England played a draw (1:1) against Denmark, in the second round of Group C of the European Championship.
"That made us more and more nervous as the match went on. We will have to put these things right if we want to go far in the tournament. We have to raise the level, we know we can do it," added Southgate.
England beat Serbia in the first round (1:0), and in the last round they will play against Slovenia.
"We have to deal with expectations and we have to accept the challenge. That's my responsibility as a manager, it's up to me to lead the team to great things. Sometimes the road to great things is difficult," Southgate said.
"We can't say that the players are not trying, but we have to find a way to play better. We have too much work to do, we have to find a balance," Southgate said.
