From the special reporter "Vijesti"
A TV screen of 120 square meters on the lake and improvised grass stands on a nearby hill... Munich lives for the European Championship outside the "Alliance Arena".
The city of a soccer giant like Bayern has done everything so that even those who are not among the sixty thousand lucky ones with Euro tickets can properly feel the spirit of the great competition and all that it brings with it.
In every corner of the Bavarian capital, football is the most important thing these days - from the stadium where the matches are played, through the main square of Marienplatz, where the fans most often gather, to the legendary Olympic Park, where practically every day the biggest party is held.
Fan zone located in the place where it was at another Euro in 1988. Marco van Basten scored an untimely goal in a way symbolically we visited during the game of his Netherlands - in the round of 16 against Romania.
It's crowded, but everything goes fast
The orange sea of Dutch fans walking before leaving for the "Allianz Arena" began right at the Olympic Park, where a memorable spectacle was made, while equally numerous and noisy Romanians decided to put on a show in the center of Munich.
The metro is the easiest way to get to the stadium, but also to the fan zone, and on the lines that lead to them from the Odeonplac station in the center, transport arrives practically every two or three minutes - because of this, even though there are huge crowds under Munich, everything somehow it goes fast and without too much waiting.
A spectacle for 53.000 people
The only condition for entering the fan zone is to arrive on time while there is still space and not to bring a backpack, bag or anything similar with you... If, however, you have certain luggage, there are volunteers who will store it in containers until the end. spectacle that day.
In addition to the mentioned main video-beam on the lake within this fan zone, three more were set up in the immediate vicinity - two smaller ones (one is part of the bar and was mostly filled by the Dutch) and one larger (160 square meters) in the middle of the famous Olympic stadium.
What is interesting is that the stands of the football temple, which hosted the finals of the World Cup in 1974 and Euro 1988, were the least crowded during the Netherlands - Romania match.
However, when Germany plays - it doesn't matter in which city - there are practically no seats, so the local media reported that a total of 53.000 people watched the quarter-final match between "Manshaft" and Spain at "Olimpijapark".
Concerts, fan shop...
Each of the 51 matches of this year's Euro is broadcast live at the Olympic Park, and where there is football there is also music, so the time between the matches is filled with various concerts.
It is mainly about local performers, while the fan zone was opened two days before the start of the championship by well-known stars such as Ed Sheeran i Neli Furtado, which in a way returned to football waters as her song was the official anthem of Euro 2004.
Those who arrived a little early to the European Championship, especially Scotland fans, had the opportunity to enjoy those days at the Olympic Stadium with their Angus Young and a concert (separate from Euro) by the legendary rock band AC/DC.
The fan zone is also full of other contents, so tournaments in indoor football were organized for the fans, and many of the sponsors of UEFA in front of their stands offered passers-by to try their hand at penalty kicks, to measure the speed of the shot...
The official Euro 2024 fan shop is also a must, where you can buy souvenirs, among others T-shirts for 20 or 30 euros, up to the ball of the European Principality which cost 160 euros.
Tulips bloom most beautifully in Germany
In terms of fans that day in the Olympic Park, there was a draw between the Netherlands and Romania, but on the field a little further north in the "Alianc Arena" everything was about the team Ronald Koeman.
"Tulips" celebrated with an easy 3:0 and once again confirmed that they bloom most beautifully in Munich, where in 1974 they participated in their first World Cup since the Second World War with a unique Johan Cruyff reached the final, and the aforementioned 1988 at the Euro and won the only major cup in history.
Both times they were led by the father of "total football" Rinus Michels, and now - after practically eight years of hell - they have reached the top four - with the legendary bomber Kuman.
The orange and three colors of Romania slowly left the "Olimpijapark", and the red flags of Turkey and red-white Austria brought a new flavor to it...
And that's how Munich exuded all the colors of the Euros every day - a new spectacle both at the Allianz Arena and the Olympic Park is scheduled for tonight in the semi-final super classic between Spain and France (21 p.m.).
