In Montenegro, 29 people are suffering from swine flu, while the number of citizens with symptoms of the H1N1 virus has doubled in the past week, the Institute for Public Health announced.

In this institution, they do not have data on whether any of the patients are life-threatening.

During the previous week, 142 people had symptoms of the A H1N1 virus, while 29 were confirmed to be suffering from swine flu.

"It starts suddenly with symptoms such as high temperature, weakness, malaise, cough, sore throat," said Božidarka Rakočević from the Center for Disease Prevention and Control of the IZJZ.

The Institute for Public Health does not have information on whether any of the patients are life-threatening.

Two deaths from swine flu were recorded this season.

The first victim is a 51-year-old patient who was not treated for a chronic illness and was not vaccinated against the flu.

The second victim is a 50-year-old nurse who worked in the internal department of the hospital in Bar. And she was also not vaccinated against the flu even though she had a chronic illness.

"As these data show, we, health doctors, are also in the risk group, but of course, first of all, chronic patients and patients of an older age. Due to mostly accompanying complaints of earlier diseases that they carry with them for many years, their immunity is threatened by this very fact. so the flu virus that comes can lead to a fatal outcome," said Dr. Bojan Bekan from the Podgorica Health Center.

And to prevent that from happening, doctors advise:

"It is mandatory to stay at home for several days, to take symptomatic therapy, to take enough fluids and not to go to work, nor for children to go to school and kindergartens so that they do not spread to other people and to recover as soon as possible ", explains Rakočević.

The Institute for Public Health points out that citizens can still be vaccinated in health centers.

Children under the age of 6 months, seriously ill and those who are allergic to vaccine ingredients, especially egg proteins, cannot receive the vaccine.

The flu season, as expected in the Podgorica Health Center, should end at the end of March, when the temperature fluctuations have passed.
