"I really don't know their names, Jala brother, I don't know, it's really a real shock to me, then we wonder why there are such generations, I think we can't be normal when we listen to such music, because I think that music has a very important influence on the development of our personality"

Nađa Dabetić, a fourth-grade student at Vasa Pavić High Music School, is shocked by today's type of music and the choice of her peers, because as she says, it is clear that there is no quality.

"I really don't know their names, Jala brother, I don't know, it's really a real shock to me, then we wonder why there are such generations, I think we can't be normal when we listen to such music, because I think that music has a very important influence on the development of our personality", said Dabetić.

Although they vehemently resist this trend, those who are musically educated point out that today music is more watched than listened to.

"When I hear what my generation and peers are listening to, younger brothers, I can say that I am disappointed, because I wonder if it can even be called music, what it is, if there is any aesthetics, then I ask myself, because often professors tell us to listen to music, but I wonder if today we listen to it, or watch it," said Dabetić.

"I think the people I'm surrounded by have, especially in the music school, we're all educated and know what's good and everyone listens to good music, that's mostly classical music, jazz, and as for my generation, my society listens outside of music and this new, domestic music, which I'm not a supporter of. I don't listen to it, but these new artists, such as Maja Berović, Jala Brat, and so on," said Maša Vujadinović.

Since children are subject to influences from all sides, the family is crucial in the formation of musical taste, according to professor Dragana Armacki. He also adds that the availability of music through various media has changed both the offer and the audience.

"The family definitely shapes everything, including the cultural approach of each child, what the parents listen to at home, what genres of music he grew up with does not necessarily determine his later taste, but it does determine a lot of things. I am not one of those who are strict in assessing what is quality, we all know that everything should be aesthetically acceptable, the cultural moment is not exactly happy in any other sphere of society, so it is somehow logical that we have a problem in this field of music as well", said Dragana Armacki, teacher of solfege and music academy.

Armacki believes that there has also been a big crisis when it comes to song lyrics, which should not surprise us because the noise and fury of today's music reigns, which turns attention from the important to the trivial.

"Texts must not send a message of misery, a message that lacks self-respect, we must not send messages that being left with live rhythms is happiness, and so because in that way children or young people unconsciously accept those models that are marketed. Each song educates both performers and listeners, that's why we should already start sending good messages at that age, which, of course, will additionally deal with the education of children in addition to parents and schools". Armacki said.

At a time when music is no longer just a part of our lives, but echoes from the television, from the radio, comes from computers, mobile phones, which never turn off, it is of particular importance, our interlocutors conclude, that we choose wisely what we listen to, and with which songs new generations are maturing.
