High heat does not only affect people's physical health. On the contrary, they affect the intellect, emotions and behavior, and mental health in general.
The record duration of the heat wave in Montenegro caused more and more people to contact psychologists asking for advice and help due to insomnia, loss of concentration, and impaired attention.
"A person does not process and process these sensations in the best way, and that certainly causes him worry. When that worry is intense and strong, and when it really affects some functioning, they come to psychologists for some counseling work. And of course On this occasion, I would like to emphasize that anyone who feels any kind of discomfort or psychological problem should come in for a consultation," says psychologist Danijela Brajković.
She explains that if you feel any change in your way of functioning, don't panic, because maybe it's just a matter of problems caused by the current meteorological situation and that it's just a kind of reaction of the body to these conditions.
"What we psychologists do first of all in a conversation with a client or patient is to calm them down. Considering that people of all ages come forward, if it is really a reactive state, which is current, to get closer to them, to happens due to high temperatures, that maybe his current insomnia, depression, irritability, is not something why he should have intensive care, for which they usually come to the psychologist," said Brajković
In order to avoid such reactions, psychologists, as well as doctors, advise citizens to drink plenty of fluids and pay attention to their diet, to sleep whenever they can, to walk in the evening and adjust their needs to high temperatures, and not to shut themselves up in apartments and get too drunk .
