The forest park on Zlatica, the area around the Oktoih school are just some of the locations in Podgorica for which the imperative to be clean was valid today. At nine o'clock the campaign "Let's do it Montenegro - We continue differently" started.

Gloves and bags on World Cleanup Day were grabbed by many who are bothered by the sight of litter.

"For nature to be clean and beautiful and not to be polluted," says Masimo.

"Today we came across a lot of garbage, a lot of glass. People really have to take care of that garbage, because this is a park and we get oxygen from it," said Jovana, Dragiša Ivanović Primary School student.

"I think it is important not to pollute the environment, because we are not only harming the environment, but also ourselves," says Nađa, a student at the same school.

This is exactly what they are taught at school, which is why some of them gladly responded to the call to clean up.

"People do not understand that throwing garbage in nature does not only destroy that locality, but also destroys a house, home or habitat. Raising awareness about the importance of nature is very important today," said Svetlana Bulatović, a biology teacher at Dragiša Ivanović Primary School.

The role of socially responsible media is very important in raising awareness. That is why TV, portal and newspaper Vijesti, Monitor and the Center for Investigative Journalism supported today's action.

"Because we are the people who somehow create the opinion of the public and that public sometimes, whether we like it or not, looks up to us. If we set an example on the field, I think that is the best way for them to learn from us as they should let's behave," said ND Vijesti journalist Damira Kalač.

Today's action is part of the most massive worldwide movement "Let's do it" which is carried out in more than 150 countries on all continents. In Montenegro, today, apart from Podgorica, garbage was collected in almost all municipalities. The organizers say that all structures of society responded.

"There are thousands of people involved. This is an excellent example to show that we can do a lot together. Citizens must have an active participation in the community, to know that it concerns them and that someone else is not always responsible," claims Sanela Pajazitović from ADP ZID.

Although a large number of people do not know this, they were convinced by the NGO Sportagon. For half a year, as part of the project, they have been beautifying the Forest Park on Zlatica.

"I'm saying that maybe it's a step better than in previous years, because we installed some new garbage cans, you saw that they were filling up. I can already see that it's a step better, but in general, it's very sad," said Dejan Milačić from that NGO.
