The tourist season in the National Park "Biogradska gora" will be a record this year, according to the administration of this pearl of nature.

According to the first man of the park, Saša Jeknić, their goal is better services, not a larger number of guests.

"We can expect that this year the number will exceed 50.000. We are not the ones who are running to increase the number of guests in this protected area, but on the contrary, that those guests who come to us, above all, leave satisfied," said Jeknić.

And the largest number of guests comes from abroad.

For three euros, which has been the cost of entering the National Park for the past five years, they have prepared various contents for visitors.

"From this year, we have a 3-kilometer fly fishing zone for all those who love fishing on the waters of the Tara River. In addition to those who like to fish, we also have Lake Biograd, boating, kayaking, bicycle rental...", states Jeknić.

Since a fortnight ago, a restaurant has been available to visitors, which has led to an increase in the number of guests in the bungalows.

"The restaurant is national, we hope to get four stars, we expect categorization every day. Our guests are mostly Israelis, although there are also a significant number of Russians and local guests," said restaurant manager Milena Maljević.

In the park, the management emphasizes, they are also working on solving problems that tourists may not be able to see with the naked eye, but which can ruin their stay. The primary ones are the repair of the electrical network, water supply and solving the parking lot problem.

"We didn't have electricity for three or more months during the winter, so you can imagine what kind of handicap was solved by the construction of a modern substation. Together with UNDP, the Chamber of Commerce, a very important project was realized, which is the relocation of the parking space from this area. You will agree that one of the three last remaining rainforests in Europe does not deserve this kind of parking in its area," said Jeknić.

By relocating the parking lot, passengers will be able to arrive at the park by tourist trains, which will enable all guests to have a more pleasant and peaceful stay on Biogradska Gora, which, along with the Durmitor National Park, could be on the UNESCO list of protected natural heritage, since it is on the list of waiting.
