In the next month, the Montenegrin police will control the means of public transport as part of the "Bus" campaign. The biggest target of preventive and repressive measures will be taxi drivers.
"The other participants also cause problems, taxi drivers perhaps mainly because they are in a hurry to make as much money as possible, and then drive faster," taxi driver Goran Radulović told TV News.
The action was carried out due to the objections of citizens, who complain about the frequent involvement of taxi drivers in accidents.
During the control, the correctness of the vehicle, the license to work, possible effects of alcohol or exhaustion are checked.
They drive for 15 hours without interruption
Police officer Saša Đurišić said that during the controls, the drivers themselves admit that they sometimes drive for 12 to 15 hours continuously, which is illegal.
When it comes to vans and buses, according to the police, they cause fewer problems.
"Any possible delay on the road brings problems with passengers and payment of penalties to the stations".
The control provides for checking the equipment that the driver has in the vehicle. Željko Marušić, a van driver, says that as a driver he must have complete winter equipment, chains, shovel, sandbag, first aid...
During the controls, the psycho-physical condition of the driver is also checked.
As part of their regular work, the police launch monthly actions in which they intensify control of a certain group of road users, usually based on citizens' complaints. Action "Bus" is implemented on the territory of the whole country.
