Until further notice, the Tax Administration will not punish taxi operators for not having fiscal cash registers, it was agreed at a meeting of representatives of this administration and the Union of Taxi Operators. Taxi drivers say the problem is that they cannot satisfy all that is legally required of them. They agreed that the Ministry of Finance should establish a working group that will look for a model for the introduction of fiscalization according to different standards.

The meeting at the Tax Administration took place after a taxi driver protest was scheduled for this morning in front of the administration building, due to the announcement that they will be fined from March 1 if they do not issue fiscal invoices to customers.

"It was agreed that the control of the fiscalization of all taxi carriers in Montenegro will be postponed until further notice, both companies that perform the activity of taxi transportation and independent carriers," said Marko Šćepanović from the Union of Taxi Carriers.

They complain that they cannot meet all the conditions prescribed by the laws. They explain that their taximeters only calculate the total price, and should have more elements, such as mileage, start and several tariffs.

"The problem is that, based on the current laws, both the VAT Law and the Law on Road Transport, taxi operators cannot issue fiscal invoices that will fulfill all the elements required by the Law on Road Transport," he said. Scepanovic.

Taxi drivers say that they hope for a compromise solution that will benefit both them and the state.

"One of the variants is the introduction of fiscal taximeters, we were informed by the Tax Administration that the introduction of fiscal taximeters is planned for the end of 2018. In some future period, we can expect the Ministry of Finance to establish a working group that will work to introduce fiscalization according to significantly different standards," said Šćepanović.

The Union of Taxi Carriers brings together 27 companies from all over Montenegro with more than a thousand vehicles.
