A month and a half before the local elections, the government promises the citizens of Ucin a port on the Velika beach, the solution to the Port Milena problem, the beginning of agricultural development... A contract for the lease of 70 hectares of state land was signed in Šas, with a guaranteed investment of one and a half million euros. They arrived today and machines for deepening the fork at Bojana.
The project, worth 400 euros, should solve the flow of water through the right arm, through which the Bojana almost did not flow in the previous period, so the mouth was closed several times.
"In the following, we will deal with the entire course of Bojana up to the mouth, to carry out bathymetric recording and to the mouth itself to perform the necessary deepening", said Deputy Prime Minister Milutin Simović.
"Then the main stream will be unhindered and we hope that it will reach the level of 25 percent which is enough to flow through the right branch," said Ulcinj Municipality President Nazif Cungu.
Fishermen believe that this work should have started earlier, because it will not be easy to carry out in this rainy season.
"Because now the speeds are high and it could have happened with less effort, it should have been dug earlier. Now Bojana has gained speed," said the president of the Ulcinj Fishermen's Association, Ivo Knežević.
"Normally, it should have started earlier. The tender was closed on the 27th, it was supposed to start on the fifth of last month. The excavators have arrived, everything has arrived, how much will they be able to do at this moment due to this speed, I don't know, because we are going into the rainy season, there will be more rain, snow, storms, everything," said Marko Mašanović, a fisherman from Bojana.
At the request of the fishermen, Simović also visited Port Milena.
"A four-meter boat cannot enter there and many fishermen are blocked, they cannot fish. Many fishermen would take out a permit, register, but they do not do that because of the bad conditions. We really have very bad conditions for fishing in Ulcinj," he said. Knezevic.
"Today we agreed that we will temporarily carry out an intervention measure at Port Milena, where we will try to deepen it, in order to create a natural connection between the sea and Port Milena. Ulcinj should get a new fishing port for a relatively short period of time, where we will build the necessary breakwater and the necessary coastal infrastructure," said Simović.
The Ulcinj fishermen are looking forward to what was promised and say:
"Everything is ideal, perfect, it just needs to be fulfilled," Knežević said.
The elections in UIcinj will be held on February 4
