The Ulcinj opposition agrees that Ulcinj has never had a worse government than the one made up of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Forca and the Democratic Party (DP).
They are also convinced that the citizens will show their dissatisfaction in the upcoming local elections. The opposition will go to the elections independently as things stand today, but they do not rule out the possibility of creating a coalition.
"We can expect an excellent result in these local elections, because the citizens are fed up with the same politicians who rotate in the position of mayor. I think the worst government in the history of Ulcinj is coming to an end," said Omer Bajraktari, president of the Municipal Board (OO) of the URA Civic Movement. Ulcinj.
"It is realistic that there is room for strengthening, not only the SDP, but also for strengthening the opposition bloc. This government did not manage to spend the 25 million provided funds for two years, not a single cent in investments in solving the wastewater problem of this city, which is a key condition for the development of tourism," said Skender Elezagić, head of the Club of Councilors of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Force leader Nazif Cungu has been at the head of the municipality for two years. Coalition partners DPS and DP will not go to the elections with Force.
Only in the Democratic Union of Albanians do they not rule out the possibility of joint performance.
"It is our wish that this cooperation continue with mutual respect for each other's positions and political power. The Union is ready and is preparing for an independent performance," said Mehmet Zenka, president of DUA.
Everyone believes in the increase in the number of voters, and the DPS are convinced that they will lead the city for the first time.
"If we are the strongest and most powerful party in Ulcinj, the mayor of the municipality will most likely go to us. After February 4, we will know who we will work with, what we will do and how we will create a policy for the benefit of the citizens of Ulcinj," said Ljoro Nrekić, president of the OO Democratic Party of Socialists ( DPS) Ulcinj.
"I think the number of councilors will be twice as large. I know that for some what I say sounds a little unrealistic, we have demands, we have support, we have people's interests to contribute," said Fatmir Đeka, president of the Democratic Party
The opposition parties warn that the first man of the city is already spending the money of the citizens of Ulcinj for the campaign - asphalting, redoing sidewalks, installing lighting, although Cungu said earlier that these are all regular investments.
"It's a pity that the elections are not more frequent. Then the government feels that the ground is slipping away from under their feet and then they try to make up for everything they failed to do," Elazagić said.
"Of course they are using the resources of the municipality of Ulcinj for their own campaign, but by calling local elections, I think the worst government in the history of Ulcinj is coming to an end," said Barjaktari.
The majority in the Ulcinj parliament, which has 33 councilor seats, is now made up of 27 councilors - nine from DPS, eight from Force and seven councilors from the coalition gathered around the Democratic Party.
There are six opposition councilors, two each from URE and SDP and one each from Democratic Front and SNP.
