The council of the president of the Podgorica High Court, Boris Savić, did not discuss today whether the investigating judge acted correctly when, at the request of the special prosecution, he blocked the property of former high-ranking DPS official Svetozar Marović and his family members. The reason is that the case files prove to us that Svetozar's son Miloš, the younger Marović's wife - Tamara, and her brother Ivan Popović were duly informed about the holding of the hearing.
Tivat businessman Radojica Krstović, who appeared before the Court today after complaining about the confiscation of a luxury villa in Babin do, which he bought in October 2015 from Svetozar's wife Đorđina, was duly informed.
The hearing was postponed indefinitely, and Marović's attorneys claim that their client acquired everything legally.
"It is about property that was acquired in 91, so it was duly paid for and registered in the name of Svetozar Marović, so I consider that since he is accused of having committed a criminal offense in 2006, I consider it to be applied retroactively some 15 years ago I believe that it is impossible and not at all. The court should not accept that a temporary measure remains and possibly a more severe measure to temporarily or permanently confiscate this type of property," said the representative of the Marović family, Dimitrije Dapčević.
We asked Dapčević if they could also confirm that the younger Marović legally acquired property of great value.
"I have not filed an appeal for Miloš Marović yet, my deadline expires in a few days, so the appeal will be submitted to the court. Basically, in that appeal, some facts will be stated that justify where Miloš Marović acquired all that property, in what way, and so on." adds Dapčević.
The hearing was attended by Marović's lawyer from Belgrade, Vladimir Marinkov. He claims that their client is still undergoing treatment, but that he was able to see him. He also reveals what Svetozar thinks about confiscation of property.
"We believe that the initiation of this procedure for confiscation of that property is only one form of pressure on Svetozar Marović," said Marinkov.
The blocking of the property occurred after an analysis of banking and Real Estate Administration documents determined that Svetozar Marović and his family did not have the money available to purchase the million-dollar property. On the list of blocked properties is Svetozar Marović's 90-square-meter apartment near the "Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša" Elementary School in Budva, his wife Đorđina's four-story villa in the Babin do neighborhood, part of a 193-square-meter penthouse, which is registered in the name of Miloš Marović, about 10 square meters of land younger Marović in Mrčevo polje, then part of the residential building owned by his wife Tamara, in the Kalimanj settlement in Tivat, as well as her 52-square-meter apartment in Budva.
An apartment of the same square footage in the attic of a building in the center of Budva, which is in the name of Tamara's brother Ivan Popović, and his apartment of 123 square meters, office space of 40 square meters and basement of 18 square meters, are also under blockade.
