The sea water has started to go to the Solana pools again, because the fault at the Đerana pumping station has finally been fixed, which means that life is arriving in that area, i.e. food and water for plant and animal life.
The mode of pumping water into Solana will be strictly controlled due to the nesting of birds in certain locations, until August 1.
The national parks also claim that the failure of the pumps did not cause any damage at all, but even brought benefits.
On the other hand, the municipality emphasizes that the problem with the pumps must be solved urgently, noting that 300.000 euros for the purchase of a new pump system has been blocked in the Commercial Court.
The pumps that enable the flow of seawater to the Saltworks every now and then do not work. This attitude of the Public Enterprise National Parks, which is entrusted with the care of this area, is condemned in the municipality of Ulcinj and they say that the problem with the pumps must be solved urgently.
"There is no hot or cold water here, we have to find a way to make the pump function and how to ensure the flow of water," said the vice-president of the Municipality of Ulcinj, Hatidža Đoni.
On the other hand, the National Parks claim that it was in their favor that the pumps were not working.
"It happened at a time when we didn't even need a large amount, in fact we had enough of it as a food base for the nesting populations of birds nesting on Solana," said ornithologist Nela Vešović Dubak.
"Exactly this moment when the pump was not working, when there was no water in the pools of the Salt Lake, was ideal for repairing the benths. The bents are very important for the active control of the water regime in the area of the Salt Lake," said Dr. Biological Sciences, JP National Parks Aleksandar Mijović.
This company also says that they are solely responsible for the preservation of biodiversity and birdlife on Solana, and that the situation is under control.
"Today there are about 780 flamingos, today there are also pelicans, about 30, they weren't there ten days ago. Today we also had spoonbills, a heron, a gray heron. After three years of managing the salt pan, we can say that we have finally learned And understood how to manage the water system", Nela Vešović Dubak.
In the Municipality, however, they would like the situation to be different, and broken pumps cannot be seen as an ideal moment.
"The 300.000 euros that were destined for the purchase of a new pumping system remained blocked in the commercial court. And there we have to find a way to unblock the funds and how to spend the funds specifically for what is necessary at this moment, in order to have a slightly safer functioning process Đoni said.
This will be the fourth year that there is no salt harvest at the Ulcinj Solana.
