Former high-ranking DPS official Svetozar Marović is still receiving hospital treatment in Belgrade, claims his lawyer Zdravko Begović.
Begović announces that he will write an appeal to the High Court due to the decision of the Kotor court which decided that Marović should immediately report to ZIKS in order to serve his prison sentence.
Aware that the appeal does not affect the court's decision, Begović believes that a potential warrant for his client will not be issued until the High Court makes a final decision.
"Of course, I will file an appeal with the High Court in Podgorica with the reasoning that the health condition of my client is really very bad, that he has been in the hospital for a long time, that he is receiving appropriate therapy. Somewhere for those humane human reasons, I am convinced that the High Court can change such a decision of the Basic Court in Kotor," said Begović
Marović has not yet paid the 100.000 euro fine, even though he announced that he would do so through his lawyer. Begović says that his client is not thinking about that money now and that he will pay the fine when he is better.
"There was too much dust raised around that fine, you know, in that decision it was defined that if he does not pay that fine of 100.000 euros, that fine will be replaced by a prison sentence, so in any case, it is not appropriate for Svetozar Marović to not pay that one fine the punishment is only a question of the moment and I say because of his type and the severity of the disease, objectively he is not able to do it, but be sure in the nearest future time and that punishment will be paid," claimed Begović.
If Svetozar Marović is so bad, why doesn't someone from his family pay the fine, is a question to which we have not received a clear answer.
"I'm not technically familiar enough to know the reason and why someone couldn't do it, but I only know that he's a sick man and that at this moment he can't think of anything except to somehow get out of that health situation. his health condition improves," says Begović.
Marović is being treated in Belgrade for months and was convicted as the head of an organized criminal group in Budva. He should serve 3 years and 10 months in prison and pay almost 1,2 million euros.
When it comes to his son Miloš, Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin has repeated several times that this defendant will serve his sentence in a Montenegrin prison. On the basis of which article of the law he makes such claims, today we did not manage to get an answer because during the conference in Villa Gorica he refused to answer the journalist's questions.
The agreement on the extradition of their own citizens, which was signed between Serbia and Montenegro, clearly specifies that the states will not extradite their citizens if the sentence they have to serve is less than two years. Let us remind you that the younger Marović has 11 more months left to serve.
