Miloš Marović requested a postponement of his prison sentence

Just a few days before January 8, when he was supposed to report to the prison in Spuz, in order to serve 11 months of imprisonment for his participation in the Budva affairs, Miloš Marović today, through his lawyer, requested a postponement of his prison sentence from the Basic Court in Kotor. The reason for this is that, according to lawyer Zdravko Begović, his client is undergoing hospital treatment in Belgrade due to what he says is an acute illness.

"To be honest, since I am not in Belgrade at this time, I cannot accurately say the diagnosis that was contacted, objectively it may not even be right, in any case, as soon as my client is in the hospital, it is a disease that has a certain dimension and which is probably of such scope that he will not be able to start serving his prison sentence at this time," said the lawyer of the accused Budvan Zdravko Begović.

Due to hospital treatment in Belgrade, his father Svetozar Marović requested and received a postponement of his prison sentence two months ago. In that period, TV "Vijesti" received a photo of him from a Belgrade bar, where he can be seen casually drinking tea and reading a newspaper. However, this does not mean that he has recovered enough to be a prisoner, claims Begović.

"He went for some medical tests that day, he's not in such a state of health that he can't move, and that was just one moment that the media recorded, and based on such a single video, it is absolutely impossible to question his illness, you know "The man is objectively in such a state of health that he cannot serve a prison sentence," said Begović.

And whether Svetozar Marović is really prevented from serving his sentence, the expert, hired by the Kotor court, will give an opinion based on the medical documentation. It remains to be seen whether the documentation of his son will also come under scrutiny, for whom the accused Veselin Mujović from Podgorica claimed, during the trial, that he was hospitalized under a false diagnosis.

"I really don't think that there is any doubt in that part, it is about illnesses that existed before, and especially in the case of my client Svetozar Marović, that illness culminated after his release from prison, and I really believe that objectively there is no dilemma regarding the validity of that medical documentation," said Begović.

Experts will certainly give the final word on this, if the authorities hire them to verify the claims of the younger Marović, who otherwise returned 385 euros, which is how much the Budva budget was damaged by the illegal sale of 26 square meters of municipal land on Jaz. His father has to pay back over a million euros and serve 3 years and 10 months in prison.
