The 9th Book Salon was opened with an exhibition dedicated to Danilo Kiš and the promotion of the book of stories "Atakama" by Nikola Nikolić in the City Bookstore in Podgorica, which was too small to accommodate all those interested.
The exhibition dedicated to the great writer was announced by the director of the Belgrade City Library, Jasmina Ninkov, and the author of the exhibition, Olga Krasić Marjanović. The salon was declared open by Jelena Đurović, director of the "Đurđe Crnojević" Central National Library.
Speaking about the importance of Kiš's work, Olga Krasić Marjanović emphasized the revolutionary role of the writer of "The Sandman", but also the importance of the famous polemic that led to the creation of Kiš's book "Anatomy Lesson".
"Rain is all around us", is one of the sentences that was heard at the opening of the Book Salon - along with panels that brought an interesting insight into the life of the great writer. And that sentence as a refrain marked an exceptional evening in the City Bookstore.
"Atakama", a book of stories by Nikola Nikolić, was published in Nova Knjiga, and Aleksandra Vuković and Balša Brković spoke about Nikolić's stories, but also about the importance of Kiš's work.
- After two notable novels, Nikolić reached undoubted literary maturity with a book of stories. The writer of these stories is not afraid of the so-called big themes like death, suicide, friendship... Also, he is not afraid of narrative complications, but he never loses consciousness of the magic of simplicity. The title story is an anthology, and the writer deftly balanced the tone - from the harshness of some stories to the great, witty "family" narrative that closes the book, and is called the same as the most famous work of all Montenegrin literature - Gorski vijenac, Brković said, among other things, emphasizing that Nikolić's writing is so mature that the label "young writer" no longer suits the author.
Aleksandra Vuković, who is fascinated by the development line of Nikolić's prose, also agreed with this statement.
- Thoughtfulness and self-awareness decisively characterize Nikolić's prose. Despite all the hardships that writers go through, in essence, writers are the healthiest part of a society, said Vuković. In an inspired address to the audience, she analyzed some of the most important features of Nikolić's stories.
Judging by the first evening of the ninth Book Fair in the City Bookstore, book lovers will have interesting days in the name of books and reading. Last night, a program dedicated to literature on film began as part of the Winter Salon. Director Andro Martinović, director of the Montenegrin Cinematheque, gave a lecture on the relationship between literature and film last night in the City Bookstore.
Tonight, visitors to the Winter Salon will have the opportunity to attend the promotion of the study "Literary Crossroads: Identity, Andrić, Crnjanski" by prof. Dr. Zoran Avramović, published by the Belgrade Laguna, which will be held in the City Bookstore at 20 and 30. About the study, which thematizes the political and literary problems in the dynamics of identity (through the prism of two great writers: Andrić and Crnjanski), in addition to the author, Želidrag Nikčević will speak and Radomir Uljarević.
