Taekwondo player Balša Radunović, a member of Montenegro Stars from Budva, karate player Marina Raković from Podgorica Omladinac, water polo player Pro Reka Aleksandar Ivović, boxer Dejan Zlaticanin and judoka Akademika Nikola Gardašević are candidates for the best athlete of Montenegro in the selection of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee.
The five mentioned athletes were proposed by six national associations, five from the sports to which the competitors belong, while Zlatičanin, apart from Boxerski, was also nominated by the Chess Association of Montenegro.
Given that in the last year he became the owner of the championship belt in the most prestigious boxing version of the WBC, in the lightweight category, the professional boxer Zlaticanin is, without a doubt, the first favorite to become a laureate.
Especially since professional boxers were allowed to compete at the last Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which ultimately did not happen, because the leaders of professional associations believed that it would be disastrous for boxers who had not tried their hand at professional sports. Zlaticanin has already been chosen as the best athlete in Podgorica.
Marina Raković also has a bow result in 2016, who won bronze at the World Championships in Paris in October.
Aleksandar Ivović, who was already a Montenegrin athlete in 2015, won silver with the national team at the European Championship in Belgrade, he was fourth at the Olympic Games in Rio, while he was third with Reka in the Champions League.
The jury, which includes top Montenegrin athletes and representatives of media houses, in addition to representatives of the Croatian Olympic Committee, will decide on the best athlete on Friday, and after the jury's report, the Executive Committee of the Croatian Olympic Committee will make the final decision.
The award ceremony for 2016 will be held on December 23 in the "Gorica" villa.
