The exhibition of Mrs. Nadežda Nada Radović entitled "The skill of making Dobrot lace" - a protected intangible cultural asset of Montenegro will be opened tonight at 19 pm, in the Historical Archive in Kotor.
The exhibition from the private collection of Mrs. Nadežda Nada Radović will be shown for the second time in Kotor, organized by OJU "Muzeji" Kotor. The exhibition will feature miniatures as well as tablecloths, milieu and a cup with motifs of Dobrot embroidery, which represent works of great artistic value from the 20th and first quarter of the 21st century.
The Dobrot embroidery is recognized as an intangible cultural asset and as such requires protection by experts for deeper analysis and scientific research work. Individuals or local communities are the bearers of certain elements of intangible heritage, and therefore have an important role in the process of protecting and sustaining it.
Nadežda-Nada Radović was born in Kotor, where she spent her childhood and working life as a teacher of Serbian language and literature at the Secondary School in Kotor. She started learning Dobrot lace in 1964. The late Anđica Đurović was her teacher. She was 24 years old when she mastered the difficult and demanding stitch, which is done with the thinnest thread, the eye of a needle, so that the lace would not be damaged. She made a large number of scarves, scarves, ties and details for the costumes of the Bokel navy.
The exhibition will be opened by Tijana Čađenović, secretary in the secretariat for culture, sports and social activities of the Municipality of Kotor.
