The exhibition of drawings and video works by Nikola Marković, an academic painter, architect and designer, was opened on Wednesday evening in the "Novi to sam ja" gallery in Herceg Novi.
With the work of Nikola Marković, the audience from Herzegnov saw it for the first time at the Hercegnov Winter Salon, and this is his first independent exhibition in Novi.
"The dominant motif of Nikola Marković's creativity is the motif of the newborn. That motif appears in different structures and forms, carrying symbolic meanings and pointing to different aspects and values of childhood, said art historian Danijela Peško, opening the exhibition. She pointed out that "the artist considers the area of neonatology to be a very important area of study and research, and he dedicated his work to it through various artistic media."
"I wanted to mention with this exhibition that we have done pioneering work when it comes to neonatology and the study of natal and prenatal life in the field of contemporary art. What is very important is that today a significant number of European artists support this topic and work very actively on it, which means that we from Montenegro can be current, especially if we unite and if we use these cultural values in the right way, Marković said. .
He pointed out that he hopes that his exhibition, which deals with unlocking memory and childhood memories, will help each of those present to see a space of drawing creation characteristic of the end of the last century in Montenegro.
On the recommendation of Marković, the text The Secret of the Origin of Life, by Jezdimir Radenović, was read, as he pointed out his respected and friend, a true creator, a top publicist and art critic, because his words are visionary and should be remembered, and they marked his work and made it he took a deeper look at some properties of what he created.
Marković said that he wants Herceg Novi to get a new identity, because it is a place that can be the capital of culture in this part of Europe, in a way that will restore many values that may seem locked in our collective memory.
