The long-time ruler of heavyweight boxing, Wladimir Klitschko, wants Tyson Fury to be stripped of his championship belts, and told the media that he has never taken such a break in his professional career.
Fury pulled out of the rematch of their November fight for the second time last Sunday, when he pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history by defeating Klitschko. The Ukrainian, however, does not want to wait and do nothing, and has asked the governing bodies to take away the British's belts.
"I'm in top form and I wish I could get my belts back in Manchester. I haven't had a break this long since I turned professional in 1996. I'm completely disappointed that Fury canceled the fight for the second time," said the 40-year-old Klitschko, and reported by specialized boxing media.
Klitschko's manager Bernd Bente said that the boxer will fight again in December and that it will be for the vacant belts in the WBA and WBO versions, which are now held by Fury.
"The situation is really depressing for Wladimir. Since Fury will not be able to box for a long time, the world organizations will certainly react. We are waiting for their decision," said Bente.
