Kazan - Tanja Božović's dream lasted only 19 seconds at the European Championships in Kazan. Our judoka "burned out" in the desire to defeat Slovakian Viktorija Majorosova, whom she recently defeated in Sarajevo, at the start of the category up to 57 kilograms, to do something big in Russia...
Her opponent took advantage of a moment of Božović's inattention and immediately won the fight.
"I completely missed the tactics, and she obviously learned from that fight in Sarajevo and prepared well for the match. I wanted to take advantage of the fact that I am taller and stronger, to immediately impose my style, but she was ready for it and used my mistake," said Božović.
After a shocking defeat after only 19 seconds of fighting, Tanja Božović covered her face with her hands and cried for a long time. National team coach Hubert Roraurer tried to console her, but also learned to learn a lesson.
"I told her that she should never cry, but learn something from defeat. Tanja is super talented, she does a great job and if she had given 90 percent of what she could, she would have passed. But she and the other competitors lack continuous work in the national team, because that way they gain strength and self-confidence. When that is the case, mistakes like the one made by Tanja here in Kazan will not happen again. And such mistakes especially hurt when they happen at the European Championship," Rorauer said.
The competition at the European Championship in Kazan started today, and the other six members of our national team will be on the mat in the next two days.
The colors of Montenegro in the men's competition will be defended by Nikola Gušić and Nikola Gardašević (up to 73 kilograms), Srđan Mrvaljević (up to 81), Marko Bubanja (up to 90) and Danilo Pantić (up to 100 kilograms).
Jovana Peković (up to 70 kilograms) will also compete in the women's competition.
Gušić, Gardašević, Mrvaljević and Jovana Peković will be on the mat tomorrow, while Bubanja and Pantić will fight on Saturday, the last day of individual competitions.
