Practically the same applies to the Budva Riviera in the men's competition - Luka Bar is the absolute favorite to win the sixth consecutive (seventh in total) trophy in the Montenegrin Volleyball Women's Cup, at the final tournament that takes place on Friday and Saturday in Pljevlja, organized by AOK Rudar .
"Sirens" finished the league part of the championship without defeat and with only two lost sets in 18 rounds, and in the semi-finals their first obstacle awaits them, city rival Galeb...
"We need to justify the role of favorites on the field. We have to take Galeb seriously, as we did in our last duel. It is a young team, which was reinforced in the January transfer window with Evgenija Milivojević, who is coming off an injury, and she I would waste words, because it is about our former, long-time member, national team player. I hope that the match will be good and that we will show our quality, which we have evident, against Galeb," said Luka Bar coach Vladimir Milačić at today's press conference .
In Galeb, who were the best in the Cup in the 2009/2010 season, they regret that they were unlucky in the draw, because they got the strongest Montenegrin team as their rival.
"We are aware that it will be very difficult. Luka Bar is the favorite in the entire Cup tournament and the championship. However, with a young team, we will try to offer the best possible resistance. We will try to surprise Luka Bar a little tactically, which will not be easy. But, the cup is such a competition in which everything is decided in one match. If we manage to impose our style of play, and drag Luka Bar into some nervousness, and try to take advantage of that and win the match," said Galeb coach Nikola Masoničić.
After Luka Bar, AOK Rudar is the team with the most trophies in the cup competition, with two cups (2008 and 2009), and Pljevljan women will try to use their home field advantage to beat Morača in the semifinals and at least reach the final in front of the home fans.
"I am glad that the Cup is being held in Pljevlja, it is a great honor for us. I hope that we will be good hosts and that the hall will traditionally be full. There are four best teams in the final tournament, and I give a slight advantage to Luka Bar. I hope , above all, that this cup will be a volleyball holiday in Pljevlja," said Nataša Marković, AOK Rudar coach.
Given that they lost eight players last summer, who went to Slovenia, that is, the United States of America, and that they rejuvenated the team, in Morača they point out that by qualifying for the final tournament of the Cup, they have already achieved their goal.
"However, we are not going to Pljevlja with a white flag. Rudar finished the league in second place, but we beat them in the last match, so we will look for our chance. It will not be easy in front of a large Pljevlja audience, but the atmosphere in our team is extraordinary." Morača coach Marko Radusinović said.
