Montenegrin table tennis player Irfan Čekić will participate in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The tournament will be played from April 6 to 8 in Istanbul, and Čekić will be the only Montenegrin representative.
The participation of more than 60 competitors has been announced.
"The performance at the Games will be won by the ten best. The table tennis players will be divided into groups of six, from which the three best will each win the play-off, from which the ten best will play in Rio de Janeiro," Čekić told the MINA agency.
He said that he expects a difficult task, but also that he believes that with a little luck he can win a place.
"It will be difficult in Istanbul, but I am ready and I hope for the best. I believe that even in such a strong competition, I will show myself in the best light and be a pleasant surprise. I believe that, after Istanbul, the Montenegrin delegation will be larger by one member," said Čekić .
