Six members of the so-called "Zagori clan" and one policeman requested medical help after the incident in the Podgorica night club "Velvet".
Due to confrontation with the police, Radoslav (31) and Vidoje Stanišić (27), Saša Klikovac (33), Željko Popović (35), Nikola Marković (29) and Branko Vukanović (32) were arrested. They are charged with the criminal offense of assaulting an official in the performance of official duties. All suspects were remanded in custody for up to 72 hours.
The Police Administration claims that everyone was diagnosed with minor injuries at the Clinical Center. The fight took place during a police raid. It was officially announced by the Police Administration that a group of young men started throwing insults at the policemen as soon as they entered Velvet and that the members of the Police Intervention Unit then tried to legitimize them.
"When the police officers went towards them in order to ask for their IDs and control them, these persons, it is suspected, physically attacked them, and also threw bottles, glasses and paper bags at them, hitting several police officers," it was announced. from the police.
They claim that their officials only then used coercive means - spray, physical force and means of binding.
"Through which they managed to overcome the active resistance that these persons were providing all the time, and then they deprived them of their freedom".
According to another version, the policemen arrived in "Velvet" with the intention of dealing with the people of Zagori.
The interlocutor of "Vijesti" said that the police allegedly immediately fired tear gas and started a confrontation with the six men.
According to that information, Popović suffered the worst, with a head injury.
Anđelić: The police are trying to justify the beating
The defense attorney of the six arrested, lawyer Branko Anđelić, said that the criminal charges and their attachments clearly show what a banal attempt to justify brutal police beatings.
"The allegations in the criminal complaint seem ridiculous. Especially when you consider that the police "accuse" Radoslav Stanišić with the criminal complaint that he hit the fence himself, self-harmed and that the police officers prevented him from doing so. Then, that the suspects were fighting among themselves and inflicted injuries on themselves. They also wrote that after resisting, Stanišić fell on his own and injured himself, as well as on the suspect Vukanović that he fell on his own and injured his hands. I hope that this attempt to justify the brutal police beating will not pass any sooner that the prosecutor immediately ordered that the court expert examine, ascertain and describe the injuries of the suspects, so it will be clear what actually happened and who attacked and beat whom," said lawyer Anđelić.
The people of Zagorica were diagnosed with numerous injuries. Popović was detained for hospital treatment, while the others ended up in a concrete mixer.
