The head of Montenegrin diplomacy Igor Lukšić presented in Brussels at a literary dinner iedifice of his French-language book "The Book of Fear".
Poets Lukšić and Marius Kivu took part in the literary evening Poetry of the Balkans, which was organized by the Romanian Cultural Center last night at the literary club Le Cercle des Voyageurs in Brussels.
The occasion for the presentation of the Montenegrin and Romanian author to the Brussels literary audience was the publication of the French editions of Lukšić's "Book of Fear" (Le livre de la peur) and Kivu's "La ventolière en plastique", published by the Belgian publishing house Monde-Édition-Ouverture. (MEO), according to the announcement of the New Book.
After reading the poems of the two authors in the original language and in the French translation, there was a discussion about their creative approach and inspiration, dominant literary motifs and their relationship to literary creativity in general.
The leader of the literary evening, the director of the Romanian Cultural Center in Brussels, Robert Adam, expressed his satisfaction that his institution had the opportunity, through Lukšić's and Kivu's creativity, to introduce the contemporary poetry of the Balkans to the Brussels audience.
Publisher Žerar Adam pointed out the importance of publishing and literary translation as a means of affirming dialogue between cultures and expressed the willingness of the publishing house MOE to continue introducing the francophone audience to the literary work of authors from Montenegro and the region.
"The Book of Fear" is Lukšić's second book of poetry, published in the original by Nova Knjiga in 2011. The book was translated into Italian in 2013, published by the Roman publishing house Qulture Edizioni.
"The "Book of Fear" combines poetic and prose segments. The accent is placed on the central prose segment, "In the Brain", in which man wants to understand the world he lives in and wants to understand himself in that world. He is searching for the meaning of existence. Fear arises at the thought that world events and human existence have no meaning. However, man finds a way out in an uncertain future that can be filled with fear, but also with hope for a better life. The search for meaning has no end, and the two poetic parts also speak of the search for the meaning of one's own ego and love," the announcement of "New Book" states.
