The employee of the French bank "Societe General" Alimou Gaetan was supposed to be the recipient of the shipment of coffee from Brazil, in which the customs officials found about 33 kilograms of cocaine in the Port of Bar at the beginning of this month.
This was officially answered by the Customs Administration.
"Vijesti" contacted the bank "Societe Generale Montenegro", from which they announced that they only offer banking services to the population and legal entities.
"Societe Generale banka Montenegro" does not trade in stock exchange commodities. We are in contact with the 'Societe Generale Group' in Paris, which is currently analyzing the situation. At this moment, we cannot provide more information," the bank said.
Cocaine, which customs officers found in a shipment of coffee, reaches a price of 1.500.000 euros.
On the website "panjiva.com", where there are details about the transportation of goods by ships, you can also find the profile of the company "Societe Generale Paris".
It says that the site has 246 records of shipments from that company. Coffee is listed among the "top products" in the lower right corner.
In the reply from the Customs Administration, it was answered that the sender of the coffee is the Brazilian company "Finance Comercio De Alimentos Ltd", whose address is Rua Guilherme Francisco Zanatelli.
However, the company under that name does not exist in Brazil, but a large company engaged in the export of coffee "Finacafe Comercio De Alimentos Ltda" is registered at that address.
The Customs Administration and the Police Administration announced that the criminal technician of the Bar Security Center performed a preliminary chemical analysis and weight measurement, which determined that it was cocaine with a gross weight of 33,438 kilograms.
"During the storage of containers with coffee, which were delivered to the Port of Bar on November 25, 2015 by the ship 'Tongan II', customs officials, based on port documentation and risk analysis, proceeded to inspect a certain number of containers that arrived from South America. "The inspection of the container revealed that the customs markings of one container were damaged, but that the seal number was identical to that stated on the bill of lading," the announcement states.
This could also mean that the shipment of cocaine was subsequently put into a container with coffee.
After opening the container, they explain, it was noticed that there was a bag on top, which in terms of color and shape did not match the declared goods.
"By opening the bag, the customs officials found goods whose appearance and hardness correspond to the usual packages of smuggled narcotics. It is about 33 kg of a white substance that is reasonably suspected to be the psychostimulant drug cocaine," the statement read.
It was also stated that police officers are taking further measures in order to identify persons who smuggled drugs.
The company from Switzerland was informed about the shipment
The Customs Administration stated that in the documentation for the cargo arriving from Brazil, the name of the company that was informed about that shipment was also stated - "Sucafina Ingredients SA".
That company produces coffee and tea, and was founded in 1977 in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to data collected by "Vijesti", that company had its representative office in Belgrade for years, at the address Golubovačka 13, which was founded in May 1990, and was closed at the end of November 2013.
The representative of that company was a citizen of Serbia, Ljubomir Pavlović, with whom "Vijesti" was unable to get in touch.
"Tongan II" set sail from Bar
The Customs Administration and the Police Administration announced that a container with coffee and cocaine was delivered to Bar by the ship "Tongan II" on November 25.
The feeder ship "Tongan II" sails under the Cypriot flag. It is a cargo ship that delivers containers, which were previously brought by large transoceanic cargo ships in one of the major European ports from South America.
According to the data available on the "marinetraffic" website, it sailed from the Croatian port of Rijeka to Bar on November 27 around eight o'clock in the evening. According to the same data, it then sailed from Bar on November 29 for the Calabrian port of Gioia Tauro in Italy. Around 19:2 p.m. on December 21, "Tongan II" from the Italian port sails again to the port of Bar. Last night around XNUMX pm, it was in the port of Đoja Tauro.
