The British Tyson Fury created a sensation in front of 55.000 spectators in the "Espri Arena" in Dusseldorf, after he unanimously defeated the now former heavyweight champion, the Ukrainian Vladimir Klitschko (115:112, 115:112, 116:111). The gypsy king is the new world champion in the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO versions.
In one of the most unattractive bouts for the heavyweight title, the 27-year-old Fury got the better of Klitschko, completely neutralizing his usual left-hand dominance. Fury moved excellently, he left the initiative to his rival, and with huge steps he easily avoided the front straight. Although he had no planned attacks, Fury still knew how to take advantage of a few recklessness and passivity of the Ukrainian, who persistently rushed forward, without the courage to open up and go on the offensive with a direct right.
Fury registered a well-deserved 25th victory in the same number of appearances, while Klitschko suffered his fourth defeat, and he celebrated 64 times in the professional ring.
Fury was particularly dangerous in the 9th and 11th rounds. In the ninth round, when he seemed to be shaken, he delivered two terrible blows from Klitschko's recklessness, just like in the 11th round, in which he received a public reprimand.
Klitschko was better in the 12th round. It seemed that Fury was running out of strength, but Klitschko was unable to land a devastating blow, which was the only way he could make up for the deficit.
"My rock and roll, my salvation! - he alluded to Fury after the match in the way he moved in the ring and continued:
"It is difficult to win in a foreign country. When I agreed to box in Germany, I thought I had already lost the fight. I am also grateful to the audience of my rival, or rather the great champion, to whom I apologize for my antics in the ring. I only wanted to to make it known that I am younger and more eager to succeed" - said the 27-year-old Briton, of Irish roots, whose nickname is the Gypsy King.
Klitschko was depressed.
"I lacked speed tonight, and he was well covered. That decided the match. I tried to speed up and get closer, but I didn't succeed," said the 39-year-old Ukrainian.
