Criminal complaint against a man from Podgorica: They claim that he killed a dog he adopted

On Saturday, the non-governmental organization "Ruka-šapi" filed a criminal complaint against Goran Novaković, who adopted a dog, and then, as they claim, shot it to death.

The representative of "Ruka-sapi" Ratka Tanjević claims that Novaković signed an adoption contract and took over the pit bull Maks at the beginning of July, and he was euthanized during the previous week.

Novakovic, however, claims that the dog was not killed, but that it ran away a few days ago.

"The dog started to be aggressive, it bit the cow, then it bit the pig, then it slaughtered the chicken, we informed the representatives of 'Hand-Paw' and the asylum, but both organizations told me that they have no place with the dog. And the dog ran away a few days ago," said Novaković.

"I spoke to the Novaković family and they said that the dog was behaving strangely and that they couldn't hold it anymore, to which I replied that they should wait for me until tomorrow, because I couldn't get to the dog that day. However, none of them answered my phone the next day, so I decided to go to them and find out what it was about. His mother was at home and told me that they called a neighbor who killed Max with a rifle while he was sleeping in the box," said Tanjević.

Tanjević claims that Novaković told her that the pit bull chased their cow and bit its leg, and that every time he saw a cow, he barked anxiously from the pit.

She pointed out that they should repeat to the adopters several times, what is written in the contract, that they must contact them, if there are problems and they are no longer able to take care of the dogs, so that we can take over the care of them again from "Hand-Paw".

He claims that they saved Max from being put to sleep in an asylum at the end of last year and took care of him for seven months, paying for his board and veterinary examinations.

"We walked that dog almost every day and you can't believe how much love was given to him during those months. That dog was not aggressive at all, nor was he restless, nor did anyone complain about him. Even Novaković posted on Facebook for the first few days that he and the children were happy with the new dog," said Tanjević.

On Thursday, Novaković announced on his Facebook that he was looking for a new home for the two-year-old dog "due to the impossibility of keeping it".
