The President of the Parliamentary Committee for Security and Defense, Obrad Stanišić, believes that the state authorities, who arrested the deputy of the Democratic Front (DF) Nebojša Medojević, acted according to the law.
Medojević was arrested last night by order of the High Court.
The Police Directorate announced that Medojević was arrested around midnight on the basis of a warrant issued by the Podgorica High Court in a case established in relation to allegations of receiving and giving bribes.
"As the president of the committee for security and defense, I regret that this happened. I do not want to get involved in the decisions of the High Court or any state body, that is their job," Stanišić told reporters in the Assembly.
As he said, he is sorry that it happened after the discussion on the Resolution on the Podgorica Assembly.
"I want to believe that the state authorities, especially the High Court on whose orders the Police Directorate acted, worked according to the law, if anyone does not work according to the law, they should be held accountable before the law," believes Stanišić.
Asked to comment on the DF's announcements about civil unrest, he said that he was sure that it would not come to that.
According to him, Montenegro is a stable country.
"I believe that we are all equal before the law and I don't see any reason, no occasion, nor that Montenegro should allow any civil unrest to happen," Stanišić concluded.
