On November 2, starting at 20 p.m., an exhibition of paintings "The Living Mediterranean" by the Herzegovinian painter Dragan Pečurica will be opened in the exposed hall of the Budo Tomović Cultural and Information Center.
The exhibition will consist of 24 oil paintings with Mediterranean motifs, and will be opened by writer and publicist Miraš Martinović, who wrote about this painting:
"There is a painter in Herceg Novi, who in the best way continues the tradition of those for whom this city is known: Stanić, Prijić, Pravilović, Bulaijić, Džumhur... Pečurica follows that path, but with his own recognizable signs. A painter who artistic expression articulates through an imaginary and surreal world, thematically related to the climate in which it lives, but also everything that as a theme can be an association with the world of virtual reality, bringing a new tone of mysticism and stories through images that encourage reflection, even though at first glance it seemed that the simplicity of the figuration and the uncrowdedness of the canvas leaves room for the painting itself to be further refined. There are few painters of this climate who chose this style of painting because it in itself requires not only drawing knowledge but also conceptual and coloristic knowledge of the painting technique itself. Pechurica brings a distinctive handwriting, even though each painting has no defining points of contact in terms of color and theme. Pechurica is a painter of the sea. He acquires his first knowledge of the world and colors on the coast. This closeness of the sea and the artist leaves a bright stamp of color that the painter will use in his work through surreal themes that he encounters through imagination or through the freedom of subject matter and simplicity," wrote Martinović.
