Montenegrin singer-songwriter Vanja Radovanović will release two singles today at noon on his YouTube channel. It's a live session for the new singles - "Razapet" and "Otplakću ja to". Although in the demo versions, there are songs that are several years old, Vanja decided to present to the audience tracks that were created recently.
"Specifically, these two were created this summer. My great friend and producer, Bole Martinović, opened a great studio in Kotor, with excellent conditions for recording bands, so we came up with the idea to record a 'live session', with several new songs", says Radovanović in an interview with Vijesti.
He released both songs exactly on November 1, and exactly one year ago he released the music video for the track "Prvi pik", which he dedicated to his wife Ivana. Regarding whether he found inspiration for these tracks in his everyday life or whether he told "other people's stories" in these tracks, Radovanović reveals:
“One story is mine, and the other, fortunately, is not, but perhaps it would be most appropriate to say that both are based on thousands of true stories. The point of a good story, true or fictional, is that people find themselves in it, and everything else is less important. Certainly, there is always a good part of you in everything you write, whether you like it or not", explains the interlocutor of "Vijesti". He claims that when it comes to inspiration, there are no rules, and that sometimes he writes down the song immediately, while sometimes he lets the "idea settle".
"I think I've gone through all the possible variants of songwriting, from when something just comes to you and you just put it on paper without having to change anything, to when you force yourself to pluck something out of, more or less, everything that surrounds, so that later, out of pure persistence or spite, a poem would not be born. Some will be good, some not, but it is important to write. It is not for nothing that they say that paper endures everything", believes Radovanović.
Director Gojko Berkuljan was in charge of the Live Session, with whom Radovanović collaborated on the music video for the song "Inje", and about how hard it was to shoot two music videos in one day, the musician says:
"Extremely interesting, first of all because these were not ordinary videos, and the team, led by Gojko, although abnormal, very serious and professional. We played live, which required music pre-production and everything it entails, and that would not have been possible without Bolet, who produced both songs, recorded and played the piano and/or synths, then Branko Marković, who played the bass guitar and sang, and Peđa Marić, who was managing the drum", says Radovanović.
"We've been jamming in the studio for a few days, wouldn't we make the day easier for ourselves, but also for the video crew, which, in addition to Gojko, also included Ivan Čojbašić and, of course, the indispensable Miodrag Marković," adds Radovanović.
More than two years have passed since the release of the album "Svi životi moji" by Croatian Campus, and the musician is preparing the next one.
"These days we are entering the pre-production phase, there are some very interesting songs and I am very much looking forward to it," concludes Radovanović.
The song of the band VIII2 until the end of the year
In addition to his career as a soloist, Radovanović also launched the "VIII2015" project in mid-2, with which he released five singles. More than a year has passed since the last track "Nikšićko ledno", and about what happened with the band "VIII2", Radovanović reveals:
"'VIII2' is alive and well, we finished an extremely sincere song, symbolically called 'From Silvana to Nirvana', in which we have a guest from a wonderful young man from Vojvodina, who will undoubtedly steal all the glory for himself. These days we are shooting a music video and I hope you will have the opportunity to see and hear it by the end of the year", promises Radovanović.
