On the eve of the second Mirko Kovač Day in Rovinj, the award, which is awarded in four categories, was presented and its first winners were announced. A five-member jury chose them among artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia.
The award is given for the best screenplay based on a filmed film, for the best book by a young author, for the best book of essays and for the best novel. According to the statute of the Mirko Kovač Award, the Award is awarded in such a way that for each category there are selectors who monitor the scene and propose to the jury three books or screenplays per category.
The selectors by category are Bruno Kragić for the screenplay, Srđan V. Tešin for the book of the young author, Tomislav Brlek for the essay book and Mića Vujičić for the novel.
The jury of the Mirko Kovač Award consists of Predrag Antonijević, Vlaho Bogišić, Enver Kazaz, Borka Pavićević and Dragan Radulović. They decided to award the screenplay prize to Vuk Ršumović for the film "Nobody's Child", and Svetlana Slapšak's "Flying Pilaf" was declared the best book of essays.
The book "Between Red and Black" by Dragan Markovina was declared the best work of a young author, and "Sabo je stao" by Oto Horvat was chosen as the best novel.
The Mirko Kovač Award ceremony will be held at the Mirko Kovač Days event in Rovinj - on the third of October at 19 p.m. in the Gandusio Cinema.
The laureates will receive a prize in the amount of 5.000 euros and a charter, and next year's winners will also receive plaques with Mirko Kovač's image.
