The art program of the XXVIII Bar Chronicle was continued by the exhibition of sculptures by the prominent Montenegrin sculptor Miodrag Šćepanović, which opened in the "Velimir A. Leković" gallery.
For Šćepanović's works, awarded several times in Paris, the art historian Anastazija Miranović wrote in the catalog accompanying the exhibition that they have the beauty of stone forms that do not need an interpreter and a translator, but "an eye open to views - from the inside as much as for extroverted dives into form world".
"The natural color of the volcanic stone like a woven veil covers the form and clearly artistically separates the details of portraits, portraits, animal forms," wrote Miranović.
Opening the exhibition, the manager of the gallery Milun Lutovac, MSc, pointed out that the key to the lock of every true creativity, without exception, is "always under the umbrella of honesty and common good".
"That stone is warmer than wood, as a guest of the Bar Annals claims in one place, you can see for yourself here. In the stone pebbles of his native river, Šćepanović searches for movement, in order to fit the figure into a piece of stone and thus preserve its size. A stone is seduced by a woman, shaped by emotion, and given to someone who knows how to recognize it, understand it and preserve it," said Lutovac.
Šćepanović's first participation in the Autumn Salon in Paris in 2003 coincided with the celebration of the century of existence of this prestigious salon under the patronage of the then French President Jacques Chirac. On this occasion, a luxurious catalog was printed in which all the exhibitors were represented, since the establishment, including Šćepanopvić's work. Three years later, at the same Salon, Šćepanović received the First Prize for the sculpture "Security", which represents the figure of a mother holding a child in her arms.
"Whoever knows the complexity of the procedure at this prestigious Salon knows that this recognition was a confirmation that Miodrag's creative work has all the necessary, respectable values. In 2008, as a member, Šćepanović was admitted to the Autumn Salon Association in Paris, and in 2012, he was admitted to another, no less important, creative competition, in the Grand Palais, the Salon of French Artists in Paris, in competition with over 2.000 exhibitors, for sculpture "Dangerous Shadows" receives the "Michel Dimon" award, added Lutovac.
